Description
Duties : Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager II, the Pool Manager is responsible for:
Administer the Park District pool program at given location, including supervising events, training and supervising pool staff, scheduling and supervising building and grounds maintenance.
Suggest programs to promote use of the pool in line with its defined objectives and perform other related public relations functions.
Enforce pool rules and regulations in a courteous manner.
Maintain schedules, submit all necessary reports including a daily financial statement, and keep records on all phases of the pool operations.
Requisition necessary equipment and supplies and administer concession and admission operations under authorization of the Aquatics Manager.
Check all mechanical equipment and perform routine maintenance including control of heating and ventilating systems, backwash filters, minor equipment repair and cleaning of pool, locker rooms, and all other areas of the building and grounds, where necessary.
Inventory, requisition and supervise all concession operations.
Submit bi-weekly payroll sheets.
Plan, direct and document facility staff safety review meetings on a weekly basis.
Present a positive, enthusiastic image of the Park District and its pools and programs.
Be courteous, tactful, and polite to the public at all times.
Responsible for general pool operation and ensuring employees fulfill their prescribed list of duties satisfactorily.
Instruct employees in their personal conduct while at the pool and encourage courtesy to the public at all times.
Support employees in carrying out instructions in controlling patrons.
Be neat in appearance and promote same among employees.
Make sure that all employees understand their jobs and instructions, and supervise with diplomacy.
Make routine checks in all parts of the pool area to check on discipline, employees, and general cleanliness.
Complete daily safety checklist.
With the Aquatics Manager’s authorization, take pH and chlorine tests each morning and every two hours throughout the day to ensure proper chlorination. Adjust chlorinator to meet sun and bather load. Examine chlorine tanks and connect new tanks as needed.
Check temperature of pool water every two hours and record.
In case of an accident, supervise proper first aid. Contact the child’s guardians immediately if accident is serious. Fill out accident reports in full and mail in with daily report.
Review daily report and deposit. Secure deposit with Park Police or in authorized safe.
Contact the Aquatics Supervisor in any emergency which requires closing or not opening the pool for any reason.
The manager or assistant manager must be on duty before any usage can occur. All safety rules will apply.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions : To perform all essential lifesaving and CPR skills in the event of an emergency, including the ability to remove a person from the water. Able to move and connect pool chemical containers weighing up to 50 lb.
Qualifications
Education : Training in water safety swimming skills, including learn- to-swim, current Ellis lifeguard license, and experience in aquatic sports. Current first aid and CPR certification required. College degree desirable with major in recreation or allied field desirable.
Experience : Administrative and/or supervisory background in swimming pool operation including direction of pool staff and pool maintenance operations. Experience as lifeguard and/or swimming instructor.
Knowledge and Ability :
Understanding of basic philosophy underlying a sound community recreation program and ability to interpret that philosophy to staff and the public.
Ability to work cooperatively with representatives of community, public and private groups and organizations to provide the best possible image of the Park District so that the public respects and appreciates the Park District, its facilities and the quality of its recreation programs.
Ability to work harmoniously and enthusiastically with the public and fellow employees.
Extensive knowledge of facility operations, including scheduling, programming and basic management procedures.
Understanding of Park District finance and maintenance with ability to apply and interpret knowledge in practical situations related to facility operations and programs.
Ability to train, supervise and evaluate employees.
Ability to communicate well both verbally and through written correspondence.
Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.

Adjust chlorinator to meet sun and bather load. Examine chlorine tanks and connect new tanks as needed.\\r\\n\\tCheck temperature of pool water every two hours and record.\\r\\n\\tIn case of an accident, supervise proper first aid. Contact the child’s guardians immediately if accident is serious. Fill out accident reports in full and mail in with daily report.\\r\\n\\tReview daily report and deposit. Secure deposit with Park Police or in authorized safe.\\r\\n\\tContact the Aquatics Supervisor in any emergency which requires closing or not opening the pool for any reason.\\r\\n\\tThe manager or assistant manager must be on duty before any usage can occur.
