Description
Description

The company is distinguished by its extensive product and service offerings, broad distribution capabilities, exceptional financial strength, underwriting excellence, superior claims handling expertise and local operations globally.
KEY OBJECTIVE
We are currently seeking candidates for a Property & Casualty Risk Engineering Consultant (PCRE) with experience in the fire protection, property, casualty, and auto liability loss/risk control, and mitigation associated with the oil & gas, mining, power generation, and renewable energy industries. This person will be supporting our Canadian underwriting operations. The PCRE professional operates within the Chubb Risk Consulting Department and is considered an integral component of our value-added services for commercial insurance policyholders. The position will report to the AVP, Risk Engineering Manager supporting mainly the Western Canada geography along with periodic travel across the country and potentially outside the country (i.e. U.S.). Travel required ranges up to 50% and overnight travel averaging 5 nights a month, as business needs warrant. Outside of local and regional client engagement travel, this is a "work from home" position.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide an understanding of a client's operations to our underwriting team through Risk Assessments.
• Counsel clients on best practices related to their existing operations and programs, that are germane to the geographic territory, coupled with virtual work that can be performed agnostic of geography for specific areas of expertise, i.e., oil and gas.
• Assist clients with identifying hazards within their facilities and, as appropriate, provide recommendations for improved practices.
• Provide Chubb's risk engineering consulting services to meet client needs and/or improve the accounts loss history (e.g., business continuity planning, product safety review, evaluate building fire protection systems and emergency procedures).
• On-site visits with existing and prospective customers will be conducted, and comprehensive reports will be completed that evaluate hazards and controls for adequate risk selection, pricing, and application of underwriting techniques that will lead to profitable growth and retention.
• Scheduling client visits, processing client correspondence and inquiries, conducting risk assessments in person and virtually, completing reports, and following up on recommendations.
• Coordinating with claims and underwriting partners to ensure expectations are exceeded and consistently support satisfactory risk selection and client retention.
• Represent Chubb Risk Consulting in client meetings, industry forums, professional associations, etc.
Qualifications
• 5 to 10 years (Risk Engineering Consultant / Senior Risk Engineering Consultant) or 10+ years (Executive Risk Engineering Consultant) of experience in property and casualty risk assessments, with an emphasis on oil & gas, mining, power generation, and renewable energy. Evaluating hazards and controls for other industries is beneficial.
• Significant experience in the Oil & Gas industry, specifically focusing on the upstream E&P and oilfield service segments. The ideal candidate has experience performing on-site property and casualty evaluations of natural gas processing facilities, sour gas plants, compressor stations, oil batteries, disposal facilities, NGL handling and gathering systems, and associated service contractors.
• Experience in conducting property evaluations for Mining and Power Generation (conventional and renewable) operations is a bonus.
• Proficiency and knowledge in fire protection and construction codes and standards such as NFPA, FM Global, etc., hazard identification skills, emphasizing Property, General Liability, Product Liability, & Auto / Transportation exposures.
• A consultative and client centric service mindset providing solutions and services to mitigate risks and exposures. Experience delivering standalone consulting projects is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficient interviewing techniques and technical report writing ability
• Initiative, effective time management, and ability to function both independently and collaboratively as an integral team member.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat. A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license and passport and the ability to travel in the U.S. and Canada
• Bachelor’s degree in a field focused on Engineering, Science, Safety & Health, or relative work experience in the risk control/loss control field.
