Description
To support the Child Find Individualized Education Program (IEP) team in assessment and identification of children ages 3-5 with suspected disabilities.
Responsibilities
Communicates effectively with students, parents, administrators, and supervisory staff in oral and written form.
Works collaboratively with early childhood classrooms, Child Outcome Summary, Infants and Toddlers transition teams and Child Find teams.
Collaborates with home-school SLPs, Infants and Toddlers SLPs, and private providers.
Provides consultation to the school staff and families regarding speech-language development and its connection to the curriculum.
Demonstrates competency in the use of formal and informal assessment tools for children/ students 3-21 years of age.
Identifies students appropriate for speech and language services based on individual needs and prescribed guidelines.
Completes oral and written reports in a clear and concise manner using recommended formats and timelines.
Develops functional and measurable goals for IEPs that are directly related to students documented needs.
Remains current regarding research-based intervention techniques, differentiated instructional strategies, and assistive technology to meet students’ needs and learning styles.
Completes Third Party billing accurately within the mandated timelines.
Participates in ongoing professional development related to the field.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Observes children in private preschools and other natural environments.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education, Training and Experience :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in the field of Speech-Language Pathology.
Licenses and Certificates :
Possession of a Speech-Language Pathology License from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) required.
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred or CFY (Clinical Fellowship Year) eligible.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of the principles and practices of speech-language pathology.
Knowledge of principles and practices of special education.
Knowledge of assistive technology.
Strong human relations skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Strong oral and written communications skills.
Strong organization skills.
Skill in the use of word processing, database, spreadsheet, and email software packages.
Ability to appropriately maintain confidential information.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
The work of this class is generally performed in school, community setting, and office environments. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, assistive technology, and occasional limited physical activities. Requires independent travel to school, community settings, and offices throughout the county.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Requires attendance at after-school and evening meetings and events.
GRADE:
12 - Month Pay Scale - Valid until January 2026 - 12 - Month Pay Scale - Effective January 1, 2026
SALARY: $76,309 - $143,653 (Valid Until 12/31/2025)
$77,907 - $143,653 (Effective 1/1/2026)
