Therapist - Neuropsychological Testing & Counseling
Overview
Focus Clinic is seeking a Michigan-licensed or limited-licensed master’s-level therapist to support neuropsychological testing and counseling for children and adolescents with ADHD, learning differences, executive functioning challenges, and related behavioral/emotional concerns.
In this role, you’ll work directly under the supervision of our PhD psychologist, helping administer and score assessment measures, support families through feedback and skills-forward counseling, and contribute to a comprehensive, whole-child care plan. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, warm with kids and families, and excited to build expertise at the intersection of assessment and therapy in a mission-driven and faith-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Neuropsychological Testing Support (Primary)
Administer and score psychological/neuropsychological and behavioral rating measures under the supervision of our PhD psychologist.
Prepare patients and families for the assessment process (set expectations, instructions, rapport-building).
Ensure accurate test setup, timing, scoring, documentation, and secure handling of testing materials.
Report generation summarizing background information, rating scales, test results, and clinical observations.
Coordinate testing workflow (scheduling blocks, gathering forms, ensuring measures are complete, communicating next steps).
Counseling & Skills-Based Support (Secondary)
Provide in-person (and occasional Telehealth as needed) individual and family counseling for children and adolescents, aligned with Focus Clinic’s strengths-based model.
Use evidence-based modalities (CBT, solution-focused, DBT-informed skills, parent guidance) with emphasis on practical skill-building for executive functioning and emotional regulation.
Support families with routines, organization systems, behavior plans, and school collaboration strategies (IEP/504 support in partnership with the team).
Collaborate with medical providers and clinic staff to coordinate care and support holistic outcomes.
Clinical & Team Responsibilities
Maintain accurate, timely documentation (AI-assisted where appropriate) aligned with insurance and clinical standards.
Participate in training, team meetings, and case consultation to ensure alignment with clinic goals and quality standards.
Contribute to continuous improvement of clinic testing and counseling workflows.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a closely related behavioral health field.
Active Michigan license in good standing in one of the following (required):
LMSW (Clinical) or LLMSW (Clinical)
LPC or LLPC
LMFT or LLMFT
Experience working with children/adolescents (ADHD/executive functioning experience strongly preferred).
Strong organizational skills and comfort with structured processes, forms, and scoring procedures.
Excellent communication and professionalism with families, schools (as appropriate), and clinical teams.
Eligible and willing to become credentialed with insurance panels (if role includes billable therapy services).
For limited-licensed clinicians:
Must be willing to practice under supervision and actively work toward full licensure in accordance with Michigan requirements (supervision provided/available as applicable).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience administering, scoring, or supporting psychological/neuropsychological testing (training provided if needed).
Familiarity with ADHD, learning differences, ASD traits, anxiety/mood concerns, and school systems (IEP/504).
Interest in developing long-term expertise in assessment-informed treatment planning.
On-site training is available.
Why Join Focus Clinic?
Work side-by-side with a PhD psychologist and a multidisciplinary team, gaining high-value experience in assessment and therapy.
Make a tangible impact for children and families with complex learning and attention needs.
Supportive, mission-focused culture emphasizing compassion, collaboration, and excellence.
Opportunity to help refine and grow an innovative neuropsych/testing + skills-based counseling model.
Established panel of patients.
