Description Department: Centers for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Reports to: Manager of Rehabilitation Services FLSA Code: Non -Exempt Position Summary: Athletic Training (AT) is the prevention and care of injuries occurring to the physically active. Licensed Athletic Trainers provide skilled services to athletes participating in recreational or competitive sports. They specialize in sport related injuries, but care for physically active individuals regardless of age. Maintains a high level of professional expertise and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development. Position Accountabilities: Applied Knowledge: Athletic trainers must have knowledge of a large range of medical problems. Assessment, evaluation skills and working with other healthcare professionals will be required. Decision-Making Skills: Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines. Attention to Detail: Athletic trainers should be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situation when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families. Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision. Orders and fits adaptive equipment, ambulatory aids, and braces and then trains patients in the use of them. Onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including: prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation. Assess risk of injury, perform ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation and overall wellness promotion. Provide accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for student athletes with restrictions or limitations. Communicate with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes. Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures. Responsible for administrative and other duties as assigned by supervisor Assists with quality control, maintenance, cleaning of department and department equipment. Participates in performance improvement activities, assists in monitoring compliance with JCAHO accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards. Maintains competency and enhances professional growth and development through continuing education, conferences, and seminars to satisfy CEU requirements necessary for continued Ohio licensure. Performs duties in cost-effective manner, in an effort to avoid waste of hospital resources without jeopardizing quality of care and service. Supports and upholds established hospital and department policies, procedures, goals, safety, environmental and infection control objectives. Qualifications Position Qualifications: Education – Required: Graduate of an accredited Athletic Trainer program. Current licensure or license eligible in the State of Ohio. Current CPR certification. Minimum Experience: One year as staff ATC. Preferred Experience: Three years as staff ATC. Competencies Required: Competent in all department policies & procedures. Any competencies deemed necessary by department manager. Physical Demands: H- Athletic trainers should be physically and emotionally able to handle irregular hours and some weekends with minimal absences. The position requires motor coordination and manual finger dexterity to operate equipment and provide therapeutic exercise techniques. The position requires corrected vision to allow for spatial and form perception necessary to visualize anatomical structures and therapeutic equipment. Requires exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work. Must have the use of two hands and two feet along with the abilities to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach, lift, and push. Position requires corrected hearing and the ability to follow and direct oral and written directions. The position requires the successful completion of a medical examination after offer of hire has been made. The position requires the employee to be free of all unlawful substances and alcohol. Work Environment : Work environment is variable and athletic trainers may be required to work indoors or outdoors depending upon the athletic event. Position may require operation at alternate locations under the auspices of the hospital. Possible exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable disease, combative situations, loud or unpleasant noises, dirt. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Work Schedule: Hours may vary based on the demand of schools and coverage needed. May be required to work occasional Saturdays to provide coverage. Must be willing to work according to hospital needs.

May be required to work occasional Saturdays to provide coverage. Must be willing to work according to hospital needs.&nbsp;</p>\r\n\r\n<br>\r\n",
