Description
The Manufacturing Engineer Intern supports Manufacturing Engineering activities to integrate, improve, and sustain manufacturing systems and processes, with a focus on extrusion processing, production, and validation . This role provides hands‑on exposure to continuous improvement, process optimization, and cross‑functional collaboration within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Accountabilities
Actively promote and support a culture of safety .
Support compliance with operational, quality, and customer requirements .
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with company goals.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with Manufacturing Engineering projects as assigned.
Support Lean / Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in hands‑on process improvement activities, applying basic engineering concepts to optimize manufacturing processes.
Support the Validation team in transitioning new programs to production, including manufacturing lines, secondary operations, and production planning.
Assist in developing and maintaining manufacturing specifications and documentation , including work instructions and process guides.
Work with Manufacturing to help communicate and reinforce key technical and process requirements .
Partner with Quality Assurance to support product compliance and investigate quality concerns.
Participate in NCR, CAPA, and Continuous Improvement meetings as required.
Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams at the Pleasant Prairie site.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in an Engineering degree program (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related).
Working knowledge of basic inspection and measurement equipment .
Basic proficiency with PC‑based tools (e.g., Excel, documentation systems).
Strong interest in manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, and problem solving.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds .
Work performed in office, production, and warehouse environments .
May work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and noise levels requiring hearing protection.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
