    "description": "<h2>Role Overview & Key Functions:</h2>\n<p>Karyopharm is seeking a Manager/Senior Manager, IT Infrastructure & Operations to serve as a senior individual contributor owning the architecture, reliability, and evolution of the company’s infrastructure environment, reporting to the VP, Information Technology. This is a hands-on role operating with a high degree of autonomy, partnering across IT, Security, and the business to design and run scalable, secure infrastructure across a mix of cloud and legacy systems in a regulated environment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This individual will lead complex initiatives end-to-end, drive modernization, and improve operational maturity across cloud and on-prem environments. Operating within a lean IT team, the role requires strong ownership, hands-on execution, and the ability to mentor others and influence infrastructure strategy without direct people management.</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Technical Leadership & Execution</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Serve as the senior technical lead for infrastructure design, architecture, and operations. </li>\n <li>Own and execute complex infrastructure initiatives end-to-end (design → build → optimize). </li>\n <li>Act as an escalation point for critical incidents and complex system issues. </li>\n <li>Lead by example through hands-on engineering, troubleshooting, and implementation work. </li>\n <li>Mentor and guide engineers through technical challenges, design reviews, and best practices (without direct management responsibility). </li>\n <li>Collaborate with IT Business Partners to identify and align solutions that balance meeting business needs and technical complexity</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Infrastructure Strategy & Modernization</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Drive cloud-first and hybrid infrastructure strategy, including migration from legacy systems. </li>\n <li>Design and implement scalable solutions across AWS/Azure, on-prem systems, and networking layers. </li>\n <li>Partner with IT leadership to shape long-term infrastructure roadmaps and technical standards. </li>\n <li>Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption aligned with business needs.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Operational Excellence & Reliability</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Design and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks. </li>\n <li>Improve system reliability through proactive engineering (capacity planning, performance tuning, resilience design). </li>\n <li>Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term fixes to reduce incident recurrence. </li>\n <li>Optimize operational workflows, including ticket triage, escalation paths, and service ownership. </li>\n <li>Define and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and SLOs to ensure service health and performance.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Security, Compliance & Risk Management</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Partner closely with Cybersecurity to ensure infrastructure aligns with SOX, GxP, and enterprise security standards. </li>\n <li>Implement secure architecture patterns (identity, access, network segmentation, encryption). </li>\n <li>Support audit readiness through strong documentation, system configuration visibility, and asset management. </li>\n <li>Lead infrastructure contributions to disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP).</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Work across teams (Applications, Data, Security, PMO) to deliver infrastructure solutions that support business initiatives. </li>\n <li>Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on infrastructure capabilities, risks, and trade-offs. </li>\n <li>Collaborate with vendors and partners to evaluate and implement solutions. </li>\n <li>Drive alignment and adoption of infrastructure standards without formal authority.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Candidate Profile & Requirements:</h2>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. </li>\n <li>8–10+ years of deep, hands-on IT infrastructure experience. </li>\n <li>Proven ability to operate independently and lead large technical initiatives without direct reports. </li>\n <li>Strong expertise in: </li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Microsoft ecosystem (Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, O365) </li>\n  <li>Cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) </li>\n  <li>Networking (firewalls, routing, VPNs, VLANs, subnets), specifically Fortinet</li>\n  <li>Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) </li>\n </ul>\n <li>Experience with automation (scripting, Terraform/CloudFormation, etc.) </li>\n <li>Strong troubleshooting and systems thinking skills across complex environments. </li>\n <li>Experience working in regulated environments (SOX, GxP) preferred. </li>\n <li>Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Certifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>AWS Certified Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator </li>\n <li>Microsoft Azure Administrator/Architect </li>\n <li>ITIL Foundation (or strong operational process experience)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>At Karyopharm, base pay is one part of a competitive total rewards package that includes comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and more), equity and the potential to receive annual target bonuses. Actual pay is based on factors such as location, experience, skills, education, and internal equity. We maintain broad salary ranges to reflect market conditions and the specialized nature of our work.
