You will lead end-to-end product development execution from concept through production placement. You will ensure that products are developed, sourced, and delivered on time and within margin targets. About the Role You will be the primary bridge between Design and vendor partners, while also identifying new product opportunities and sourcing the best partners to support category expansion. This is a hybrid role based in our New York headquarters, reporting to the Managing Director. You can typically expect to be in the office 3 days per week. Responsibilities: Lead end-to-end product development from concept through bulk production, ensuring timelines, quality, and margin targets are met Identify and drive new product category opportunities, maintaining a pulse on trends, materials, and manufacturing capabilities to inform product expansion Define and lead vendor sourcing strategy, building a supplier network across all product categories Source, vet, and onboard new vendor partners, ensuring partners meet quality, cost, and brand standards Oversee product costing and margin performance, ensuring all products meet target margins without compromising quality Manage landed cost calculations (including freight, duties, and packaging) to ensure full cost visibility and accuracy Find and address margin risks early in the development process, partnering with Design and vendors on cost engineering solutions Lead cost optimization strategies, including material selection, construction, and bulk production efficiencies Manage the product development calendar, ensuring cross-functional alignment and on-time delivery across all milestones Ensure quality and cost standards are met as you oversee the sampling process from initial development through final approval. Place and manage all bulk purchase orders according to approved buys from the Managing Director Track production from order placement through final delivery, resolving risks to timelines or quality Partner with Operations to ensure smooth handoff from production through inbound logistics and fulfillment Oversee reporting and visibility into product development timelines, costing, and vendor performance, using data to guide decision-making and continuous improvement Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world. Basic Qualifications: 6+ years of experience in product development, sourcing, or production within consumer goods Experience managing the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept through production, with vendor coordination Demonstrated ownership of product costing and margin management, including cost engineering and landed cost analysis Experience sourcing and managing vendor relationships across multiple product categories Preferred Qualifications: Experience in apparel, accessories, or soft goods, with an understanding of materials, construction, and quality standards REQ-020066 The annual base pay range for this role is between: $115,000 — $125,000 USD For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock.
