Description We are searching for an Inpatient Speech Language Pathologist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will appropriately diagnose and treat patients primarily between the ages of 0 –21. Think you’ve got what it takes? Schedule: Inpatient weekend coverage 1 shift per week It will be primarily weekends, inpatient coverage so they need to have advanced knowledge of dysphagia and acquired neurological deficits, can work from newborns to 18+ Responsibilities: Performs patient evaluations/consultations and interprets results Provides results verbally to patient and/or family/caregiver and/or to referral source Develops treatment plan in conjunction with patient and/or family/caregiver Implements treatment plan and monitors progress on an ongoing basis Maintains records as required by law, IDS policy and administrative regulations Documents evaluation procedures, results, diagnoses, and recommendations Attends and participates in continuing education programs as required to maintain licensure and promote professional growth Promotes speech-language pathology services within the community and the IDS Qualifications: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology field of study required CCC-SLP certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association require TX-SLP license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation required 2-year professional experience as SLP in pediatric setting (may include clinical fellowship but excludes training completed prior to completion of Masters degree)· Preferred Experience: Experienced with management of complex pediatric dysphagia Familiarity with pediatric airway disorders, including trach/vent Able to informally evaluate cognitive-linguistic deficits Strong understanding of progression of oral feeding development from newborn to transitional feeders Able to collaborate and effectively communicate with members of medical team Makes referrals for other evaluations as appropriate Company Since 1954, Texas Children’s has been leading the charge in patient care, education and research to accelerate health care for children and women around the world.
