Description Position Summary: Oversees the Crisis Intervention program for the Department of Human Services – Clinical Division. During the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. provides both direct Crisis Intervention services to clients, as well as administrative and supervisory services to all Crisis Intervention staff. Manages both full-time and occasional/part-time staff, including scheduling, 24-hour consultation, and clinical supervision. Provides Crisis supervision and training to all inpatient staff on the Acute Unit, and assists other departments and programs within the agency with Crisis oversight and consultation. Duties/Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all‑inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. ● Provides both direct face-to-face and telephone contact crisis intervention services. Services include evaluation, crisis counseling, referral, arranging for inpatient admission, and consultation to a wide variety of collateral agencies, families, and resources. ● Completes CI documentation, billing forms, and PPS. Reviews all CI notes by all staff (CI, outpatient, and inpatient), monitors for corrections for billing purposes, and arranges follow-up as needed. ● Provides 24/7 clinical consultation to all crisis intervention staff rotating with the Clinical Division Manager, and clinical supervision with full-time crisis intervention staff. Completes yearly employee performance evaluations and maintains monthly statistics for the crisis program. ● Serves as DHS crisis intervention education/prevention representative, offering programs on CI concerns to the community, agencies, boards, etc., and providing CI in-service to Acute Hospital staff. ● Facilitates hiring and onboarding of all new CI staff, coordinates training schedules, and maintains all orientation documentation. Ensures compliance with annual training requirements for all CI staff. ● Manages the occasional/pool CI team including scheduling shifts, making sure all updates and changes are passed on, monitoring of performance, and providing clinical supervision as needed. ● Covers on-call CI on a rotating basis on weekends where pool CI staff are not working. Covers assessment type calls from police or hospitals which includes evaluation, counseling, referrals, coordination of hospital admissions, complete documentation, etc. ● Provides backup for WATTS, guardianships, monitoring of commitments/settlement agreements, and attending court hearings as needed due to vacation/time off of other staff. ● Assists other programs within the department including CCS, CLTS, Child Welfare, Youth Justice, etc., with clinical CI oversite for purposes such as triaging, crisis planning, and training. ●Acts as liaison for the CI program and other agencies including Corporation Counsel, hospitals, and Law Enforcement to request/obtain information related to necessary court hearings or other follow up. ● Develops and implements policy and procedures to align with state statute requirements and the agency. Supervision Exercised: Direct supervisory responsibility over six full-time and eight occasional/pool crisis intervention staff, as well as clinical oversite to others providing relief crisis services relating to crisis intervention, including the inpatient unit and outpatient MH/SUD clinicians; subject to change. Decision Making: Clinical decisions and decisions concerning provision of social work services and case management responsibilities are made independently or in combination with the multidisciplinary team. Clinical issues, program topics, and program changes are planned in consultation with the Clinical Services Division Manager. Desirable Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of psychosocial evaluation techniques, special needs of the mentally ill, federal, state and county laws, rules and regulations affecting the mentally ill, community support agencies, and therapy techniques. Ability to conduct interviews and assessments, administer psychosocial evaluations, evaluate evaluations, provide appropriate therapy, and interact effectively with patients and their families. Ability to administer constructive feedback and ensure compliance with policy and procedure. Training and Experience: A Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field and 4-5 years of clinical experience in an outpatient or inpatient mental health program. In evaluating candidates for this position, the County may consider a combination of education, training and experience, which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
