    "description": "<h2>Job Description</h2>\n<p>Become a part of the BIW team and help keep our shipbuilders safe.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Safety Leadership:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>The position is committed to service for all Bath Iron Works employees, providing inspection of safety systems on board ships under construction, in production facilities and in office spaces.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Project Execution:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Inspectors will be expected to make routine inspections and fire-safety assessments on board ships under construction and inside all BIW manufacturing buildings and office areas.</li>\n <li>Inspection of AED’s, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, as well as other tasks allowed with a CFI certification.</li>\n <li>Ensure the safety of personnel and property, consistent with applicable company requirements and fire safety standards.</li>\n <li>Maintain logs, reports, and other miscellaneous paperwork.</li>\n <li>Assist with fire drills, sprinkler testing, and contractor support for maintenance.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Training and Development:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Attend trainings as directed by the Fire Chief.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Team Collaboration and Communication:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>The successful candidate should be willing to work in an energetic, industrial inspector environment following the Incident Command Structure and the appropriate Standard Operational Guidelines.</li>\n <li>Firefighters are organized in three platoons with 48 hours on and 96 hours off, 365 days a year.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Continuous Improvement:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>The fire station includes a gym, kitchen, offices and training room.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Perks:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Personal vehicle parking is available at the fire station.</li>\n <li>Dollar for dollar company matching contributions up to 5% each year for retirement savings plan.</li>\n <li>Monday-Friday schedule; 7 AM to 3:30 PM</li>\n <li>10 Floating holidays</li>\n <li>Uniforms, boots and clothing provided.</li>\n <li>$350 annual clothing allowance after 1 year of service; $200 footwear reimbursement </li>\n <li>$250 annual (taxable) wellness benefit to help you stay healthy.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. For more information regarding the security clearance process, please visit</strong> <em>Investigations & Clearance Process</em></p>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Education/Training</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma or GED required.</li>\n <li>Maine or Pro-Board Firefighter 1 and 2 certifications are required.</li>\n <li>NFPA Certified Fire Inspector 1 required within one year of hire.</li>\n <li>Ability to obtain a secret security clearance required within one year of hire.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Experience</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Previous interior firefighting and fire service experience is preferred.</p></li>\n <li><p>Confined Space Rescue experience preferred.</p></li>\n <li><p>Technical Rope Rescue experience preferred.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Unique/Additional Requirements</u></strong>:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must meet minimal medical requirements for Firefighter candidates as detailed in Chapter 6, Medical Evaluation of Candidates, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1582 Standard on Comprehensive Occupation Medical Program for Fire Departments.</li>\n <li>Physical job requirements: ability to ascend 5–7 continuous flights of stairs while carrying high-rise kits and other firefighting related equipment.</li>\n <li>Applicants are required to provide a resume, certifications (FFI/II, CFI, etc.), and list of references with their application.</li>\n</ul>",
