Description

Note: This is an evergreen position, meaning we are constantly accepting applications. Please know you may not be contacted immediately, and we fill openings based on our need for the term. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Adjunct faculty is responsible for facilitating on-line nursing courses that meet the quality and standards set forth by the accrediting bodies and American Sentinel College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Post University under the guidance of the Assistant/Associate Dean and the Dean of the Nursing Programs. ORGANIZATIONAL DIMENSIONS OF JOB: This position works with the MSN NP Program Chair, Assistant Dean of Nursing and Healthcare Programs and the Dean of Nursing and Healthcare Programs to maintain curriculum integrity, promote optimum learning opportunities for students and foster a rich on-line environment for the students. JOB KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Doctoral degree in nursing or related field, master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university; clinical nursing experience; preferred experience in nursing leadership or administration and/or research; preparation for teaching in the college or university setting and the promise of scholarly work as described in the faculty section of the Faculty Handbook. Key FACULTY Requirements: General Requirements Provide all necessary documentation (curricula vitae, official transcripts, etc.) to support teaching credentials. Have complete familiarity with American Sentinel academic policies. Review and abide by the Faculty Handbook. Grade student assignments within 96 hours of due date. Grade all assignments in the order they are required by the course. Participate in weekly discussion forums, post questions, and respond to student posts to engender debate and reflection on course concepts. *As an online institution American Sentinel believes there are important, tangible reasons to try to maintain the commitment to grade assignments within the required time limits. American Sentinel students are employed, and we can never be sure when they will have time to do their next assignment. If they have to wait for a previous assignment to be graded, they are handicapped. American Sentinel is service-oriented and stands by its commitments. American Sentinel derives revenue when students complete assignments and course(s) on time and adhere to program completion goals. Individual Course(s) Teaching Requirements Review the course syllabus and notify American Sentinel of any necessary corrections/updates. Send a welcome message to students, using the first Discussion Forum, at least 3 days prior to the course start date. Respond to student inquiries with a maximum response time of 24 hours during the week and 48 hours on weekends. Grade student assignments following the general requirements described above. Participate in weekly discussion forums, post questions, and respond to student’s posts to engender debate and reflection on course concepts. Monitor and respond to student “posts” to discussion forums at least four times per module and question or as required by the course. Mark all assignments, deliverables, class participation, and professor graded exams and submit such grades to American Sentinel College within 96 hours. Final exams/projects must be graded and returned to American Sentinel College within one week of receipt of the exams/projects. Follow the American Sentinel grade appeal process if a student submits a complaint. The Adjunct Faculty is an independent contractor of American Sentinel. The Adjunct Faculty will not be eligible to participate in any vacation, medical insurance, life insurance, disability, retirement benefits or any other benefit plans offered by American Sentinel to its employees. American Sentinel will not be responsible for withholding or paying any income, payroll, Social Security or other federal, state, or local taxes, making any insurance contributions, including unemployment or disability, or obtaining worker’s compensation insurance on the Adjunct Faculty’s behalf. #LI-DNI
