Description
Job Summary:
The Education Assistant supports MCT’s Education Department by assisting with local children’s programming, camps, classes, workshops, administrative coordination, parent and participant communication, materials preparation, and program logistics.
Essential Responsibilities of the Position :
Education Program Support
Assist with the planning, preparation, and delivery of education programs, including classes, workshops, camps, school programs, PAC, TYA, and local children’s programming.
Provide on-site support during programs, including assisting instructors, supporting participants, preparing materials, helping with transitions, and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
Assist with production-related needs for children’s programming, which may include stage management, rehearsal support, performance support, classroom setup, cleanup, and coordination with other departments.
Local Youth Programming and Camp Administration
Assist with day camp, summer camp, PAC, and overnight camp administration, including registration support, rosters, schedules, cast lists, waitlists, forms, binders, camper information, and related documentation.
Support parent/guardian communication before and during programs, including reminders, due dates, schedules, packing lists, rules, handbooks, housing details, transportation information, and other program updates.
Assist with camp logistics, including check-in/check-out, lunches, breaks, tours, housing information, transportation details, merchandise information, scholarship tracking, and camper documentation.
Maintain accurate camp and program records, including participant contact information, medical or accommodation notes, allergies, dietary needs, arrival/departure details, and other confidential program information.
Curriculum, Materials, and Communication Support
Assist with the creation, organization, and revision of education materials, including scripts, workshops, presentations, schedules, calendars, web content, email communication, forms, and classroom resources.
Help manage education supplies, classroom materials, camp materials, and related inventory.
Respond to or route inquiries from parents, teachers, community members, and program participants.
Support education-related community partnerships, school programs, and outreach activities as assigned.
Teaching, Directing, and Program Leadership Support
Assist with teaching, directing, stage management, or program leadership responsibilities as assigned and appropriate to the employee’s skills and experience.
Serve as a teaching artist, camp counselor, program assistant, stage manager, or director for specific programs when assigned and qualified.
Support Tour, TYA, SPARK Arts, workshops, or training activities as assigned.
Non-Essential Responsibilities of the Position :
Assist with special projects assigned and appropriate to the role.
Participate in staff meetings and planning conversations as needed.
Support other organizational activities, events, or projects assigned and appropriate to the role.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working with children or youth in an educational, theatre, camp, classroom, or similar setting.
Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
Ability to support a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment for children and youth.
Ability to manage program details, schedules, forms, materials, and parent/guardian communication.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment when handling participant, family, medical, behavioral, or accommodation information.
Comfort using basic office technology, including email, spreadsheets, online forms, and shared documents.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in theatre education, children’s theatre, performing arts, camps, education programming, or youth development.
Experience teaching, directing, stage managing, or assisting with theatre productions.
Experience with registration systems, Formstack, Salesforce, Remind, or similar communication and data tools.
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
Physical Requirements :
The position may require you to sit at a desk for periods of time that could exceed 4 hours with intermittent breaks as needed.
This position may require you to stand for periods of time that could exceed 3 hours with intermittent breaks as needed.
May be requested to lift up to 25 pounds.
May be requested to drive a company vehicle for occasional duty.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities and time-sensitive responsibilities.
This position may require managing multiple tasks simultaneously and responding to changing needs or unexpected issues.
Work periods may include evenings, weekends, extended hours, and situations that can be stressful at times, particularly during peak operational periods.

Computer, telephone, copier, printer, tablets, shared drives, spreadsheets, online forms, registration systems, classroom supplies, camp supplies, scripts, binders, teaching materials, basic production materials, and standard office equipment.
