Description

Position: Swim Instructor Classification: Hourly, Part-time, Non-exempt Entity: The Christian Family Centre Reports to: Aquatics Manager About Us. Lenawee Christian Ministries provides Christ-centered education, spiritual development, and wellness services to the Lenawee County community, centered around Jesus Christ. The ministry is made up of two operating entities: Lenawee Christian School and the Christian Family Centre, located in Adrian, MI. Lenawee Christian School exists in partnership with the family and church to integrate Biblical truth for life with a commitment to glorifying Jesus Christ through academic excellence and spiritual maturity. The Christian Family Centre is a world-class fitness and family activity facility that strives to assist families and individuals grow in their physical, social, and spiritual wellness with Jesus Christ being the center. Position Summary. The Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching age-appropriate swimming skills and water safety techniques in a safe, structured, and encouraging environment. This role focuses on developing stroke competency, water confidence, and safety awareness while fostering positive relationships with students and families. Swim Instructors must maintain constant supervision of participants, adhere to established safety protocols, and be prepared to respond appropriately in emergency situations. Key Responsibilities. Instruction & Student Development Plan and deliver structured, level-specific swim instruction in accordance with established curriculum standards. Teach stroke mechanics, breathing techniques, water safety skills, and confidence-building exercises. Maintain active supervision of all students throughout each lesson. Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to promote skill development. Complete and distribute progress evaluations or report cards for each participant. Safety & Compliance Ensure a safe aquatic environment by following all facility rules and safety procedures. Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations in accordance with CPR/AED and First Aid training. Maintain awareness of rescue procedures and emergency action plans. Report incidents or safety concerns promptly to management. Communication & Professionalism Maintain open, professional communication with parents regarding student progress and skill development. Demonstrate punctuality and preparedness for all assigned classes. Attend required in-service training sessions and staff meetings. Model a Christ-honoring attitude and servant leadership in all interactions. Qualifications. Christian Faith & Character Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Exhibit a consistent Christian testimony and adherence to biblical principles in personal and professional life. Demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, and a strong commitment to excellence and servant leadership Certifications & Requirements Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, or ability to obtain certification, required. Current First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification, required. Lifeguard Certification preferred (may be required based on facility staffing model). American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred. Working knowledge of all swimming strokes. Competitive swimming background preferred. Experience working with children strongly preferred. Skills & Attributes Ability to maintain constant vigilance and supervision. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage and instruct children in a structured learning environment. Dependable, patient, and attentive to detail. employment statement.
