Nativity House (NH), a program of HAS, is the central hub to serve homeless adults in the Pierce County region.   It operates 24-hour/7-day a week, offering services (emergency shelter, meals, systematic outreach, Rapid Rehousing, Mental Health and Co-Occurring Disorder treatment, Employment Services, Spiritual Support, 50 units of permanent supportive housing, etc.) to meet the basic needs of individuals experiencing chronic homelessness guests with meeting their goals.</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Staff in this position provide supervision, program structure, behavior management and a wide range of basic needs services, as well as more advanced social services. This includes helping guests navigate a myriad of social service agencies, forms and interviews. Staff are trained in behavior management, basic case services, as well as Motivational Interviewing and other counseling skills.</strong></p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Responsibilities:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assures Benedict House is set-up and ready to open, including facilities upkeep and overseeing meal service.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Overlap with Site Monitors to assure smooth shift transition.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide consistent enforcement of program policies, procedures and rules for staff and clients.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Informs appropriate personnel of problems with operation of appliances, plumbing, heating and electrical systems to ensure site remains safe and operational.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Log in /out residents.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain Nightly Bed List.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Record significant occurrences in logbook in a professional manner.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Initiate and model respectful interactions with residents.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Facilitate night briefings on staff, shelter and client issues and concerns.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Assist with wake-ups and morning cleanup.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ensure temperature is at a comfortable degree.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Monitor multi-purpose room, sleeping area and bathrooms to maintain safety and security of residents and premises</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Daily vacuum multi-purpose room, laundry, and all Benedict House entrances, including elevator and front lobby.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Weekly wash/dry bedding and towels</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Weekly distribution bedding and towels</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Weekly cleaning floors in multi-purpose room, elevator, laundry room and kitchen</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Weekly cleaning shower/bathroom, laundry room and all toilets</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Weekly cleaning kitchen appliances</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide information on social / health services to clients as requested.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Work with and support volunteer staff.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Attends monthly staff meetings or other meetings as needed, retreats, and in-service trainings.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Uphold and model the mission, values and insights of Catholic Community Services into all aspects of work life.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Develops and supports a positive team-oriented work environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Assist volunteers in special tasks and projects</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Other duties as assigned by Program Supervisor</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Prepare dinner meal for shelter residents if volunteers are not available.</li>\n <li>Maintain order and communicate/enforce rules and policies.</li>\n <li>Maintain an atmosphere conducive to a good night’s rest.</li>\n <li>Maintain vacuuming, laundry, general cleaning schedule</li>\n <li>Miscellaneous Responsibilities</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><u>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</u></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <ul>\n  <ul>\n   <li>High School Diploma or G.E.D.</li>\n   <li>Experience in social service is desirable; personal experience and understanding of homeless population may be substituted.</li>\n   <li>Ability to work effectively with clients displaying a wide range varying behaviors.</li>\n   <li>Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations.</li>\n   <li>Willingness and ability to make sound judgments without onsite supervision</li>\n   <li>Work history, which demonstrates reliability and dependability.</li>\n   <li>Provide adequate shift coverage.</li>\n   <li>Must have a valid food handler’s permit.</li>\n   <li>Proof of negative TB test upon hire or proof of test within past 12 months.</li>\n   <li>Committed to developing and safekeeping a workplace that values and supports a positive team orientated work environment.</li>\n   <li>Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment.</li>\n   <li>Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services</li>\n   <li>Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork</li>\n   <li>Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations</li>\n  </ul>\n </ul>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><u>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</u></p>\n<ul>\n <ul>\n  <ul>\n   <li>A. in related field (e.g. social work, psychology or sociology)</li>\n  </ul>\n </ul>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>",
