Description
The Tulsa Immigrant Resource Network Legal Clinic (TIRN) Legal Fellow is a full-time, paid, two-year attorney position, which serves as a bridge from academic studies to the practice of law by providing training and mentoring to a new attorney in a law firm setting. Under the supervision of TU Legal Clinic Faculty and Staff Attorneys, the TIRN Legal Clinic Fellow will represent individuals in cases involving a variety of immigration legal issues. The Legal Fellow may also organize and implement larger community advocacy projects.

Has a strong commitment to serving low-income and underserved communities, with an ability to relate to and communicate with a broad range of clients and colleagues.
Understands how to prioritize. The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, and has a keen eye for detail while keeping an eye on the big picture. This person enjoys handling multiple tasks running in parallel and can triage to meet time-sensitive deadlines while working toward larger goals.
Strong preference for Spanish language fluency Operate in a professional office environment and requires the ability to sit for long periods of time with intermittent walking, standing, bending, squatting, pulling and pushing. Essential physical requirements, such as climbing stairs. Ability to use standard office equipment such as scanners, computers, keyboards, phones, shredders, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Responsibilities
Represent individuals in immigration legal cases, providing legal advice and guidance. Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Attend court hearings, client meetings, and other legal proceedings, advocating for the best interests of the clients. Collaborate with TIRN Legal Clinic faculty and staff to develop and implement effective case strategies. Engage in community outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness about immigration law and support vulnerable communities. Organize and participate in community advocacy projects, promoting access to justice and legal services. Maintain effective communication with clients, keeping them informed about the status of their cases and providing regular updates. Assist in the training and mentoring of law students and other legal professionals, sharing knowledge and best practices. Stay updated on immigration law developments and attend relevant workshops and seminars to enhance professional development.
Qualifications
J.D. degree from an accredited law school, with a strong academic record. Admission to the state bar and good standing with no disciplinary actions. 0-2 years of experience in immigration law or a related field is preferred. Excellent legal research and writing skills, with a strong attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients. Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively. Proficiency in a second language, preferably Spanish, is highly desirable. Passion for immigration law and a commitment to social justice and community advocacy. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. A team player with a collaborative mindset, willing to contribute to a supportive and diverse legal team.
