This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a physician passionate about advancing clinical excellence, medical education, and patient-centered care within one of New Jersey’s most respected health systems. The Vice Chair will assist the Department Chair in overseeing all academic, clinical, administrative, and quality initiatives within the department. This role provides leadership to the Family Medicine Residency Program Director and the Medical Director of the Family Medicine Center, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and system-wide standards. The Vice Chair will also maintain an active clinical practice, providing direct patient care approximately 50% of the time.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>MD or DO degree with Board Certification in Family Medicine (ABFM or AOA).</li>\n <li>Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in family medicine and clinical practice.</li>\n <li>Proven success in graduate medical education and clinical program development.</li>\n <li>Strong leadership, management, communication, and team-building skills.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated commitment to educational innovation, quality improvement, and collaborative care.</li>\n <li>Eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Partner with the Chair to support departmental operations, faculty development, and strategic initiatives.</li>\n <li>Promote high-quality, efficient, patient-centered care across inpatient and outpatient settings.</li>\n <li>Oversee and mentor physician faculty, residents, and learners, fostering professional growth and academic excellence.</li>\n <li>Participate in quality improvement, credentialing, and performance evaluation processes.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with administrative and clinical leadership to optimize operational efficiency, financial performance, and patient outcomes.</li>\n <li>Provide clinical care 1–2 half-days per week in the Family Medicine Center and participate in call coverage.</li>\n <li>Represent the department in hospital and community committees, and support community engagement initiatives.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Starting Minimum Rate</h2>HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The minimum base salary for this position is $237,126.
