Come grow with KMC Stampings!</strong></p><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>SUMMARY OF POSITION:&nbsp;</strong></p><p>Plans, lays out, and performs all machine operations to sharpen, alter, and repair intricately designed and constructed tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, machine attachments, and mechanisms, requiring a high degree of skill and knowledge of tooling practice and application.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p><p>This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Works from blueprints, sketches, models, specifications or other drawings to plan sequences for operations and machining, compute dimensions, etc.&nbsp;</li><li>Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances of tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges using measuring instruments.&nbsp;</li><li>Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications.&nbsp;</li><li>Set up and operate equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and saws to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.&nbsp;</li><li>Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to effectively troubleshoot on deep draw tooling and progressive punch press dies on presses up to 600 tons.&nbsp;</li><li>Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.&nbsp;</li><li>Design jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products.</li><li>Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using files, power grinders, or scrapers.</li><li>Perform test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications, when necessary.&nbsp;</li><li>May assist in the development and designing of new tools and dies, using computer-aided design (CAD) software.</li><li>Other duties as assigned or required.</li></ul><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:&nbsp;</strong></p><p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. &nbsp;The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.</p><ul><li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and Journeyman Tool &amp; Die Status, as well 8-10 years of previous related experience (including apprenticeship hours); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.</li><li>Previous experience in bench repair, including assembly, machinery, up-keep, layout, die repair, inspection, press troubleshooting design, quality control, die and/or fixture building, welding, and heat treating. &nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to read and understand blueprints, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) files.&nbsp;</li><li>Possess good verbal and written communication skills as they pertain to dealing with and understanding tools, dies, and equipment malfunctions.&nbsp;</li></ul><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Ability to perform basic shop mathematics; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong></p><p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently required to sit and talk or hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms. &nbsp; The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
