    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong>Nemours is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician in Jacksonville, FL.&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style=\"color: rgb(55, 58, 65); font-family: &quot;inherit&quot;, serif;\"><i><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong><u>This is a PRN (as needed) pediatric Ophthalmic Tech position in the department of Ophthalmology. This position allows for skills growth and professional development within this specialty clinic. This position requires travel to multiple Nemours sites within the Jacksonville area, including our main downtown clinic, Fleming Island, Jacksonville South, and Nocatee.</u></strong></span></i></span><span style=\"background-color: white; color: rgb(55, 58, 65); font-family: &quot;inherit&quot;, serif;\"><i><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong><u> Clinic work hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.</u>&nbsp;</strong></span></i></span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">The Ophthalmic Technician provides individualized, age appropriate, culturally competent, goal directed, and family centered care in the ophthalmological clinic. The Ophthalmic Technician completes thorough medical histories and performs ophthalmological testing and ancillary procedures. &nbsp;The Ophthalmic Technician works under the direct supervision of an Ophthalmologist or Optometrist. The Ophthalmic Technician provides individualized, age appropriate, culturally competent, goal directed, and family centered care in the Ophthalmology clinic. &nbsp;The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for completing thorough medical histories, performing preliminary eye examination and ophthalmic diagnostic testing, assisting with ancillary procedures, preparing the patient for the physician, triaging patient calls, and other duties as assigned, while following all safety procedures as per guidelines.</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></span></p><ol><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong>&nbsp;</strong>Proficient with all basic aspects of patient examination to include proper documentation of the chief complaint, history of present illness, medical and ocular history, visual acuity assessment, confrontational visual field testing, assess extraocular muscles, stereo acuity, pupillary evaluation, tonometry, and pupillary dilation.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Independently performs supplemental testing as requested by the physician including automated visual field testing, OCT, Fundus Photography, Pachymetry, Corneal Topography, and IOL Master.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Performs automated and manual lensometry, auto-refractometry, and visual acuity assessment with phoropter and trial lenses.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Triage patient calls and complete patient forms and requests for prescription refills as authorized by physician, with full documentation in patient chart.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Assist with facilitation/scribing and preparing rooms for patient examinations, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and maintained in an appropriate manner.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Knowledge of ocular pharmacology.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Clean surgical instruments in preparation for sterile processing.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Assist with fitting contact lenses and instruct patients in care and insertion of lenses.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Follows regulatory guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality and provides safe and effective patient care.&nbsp; Maintains a safe environment for patients, families, visitors, and employees.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by the employee’s supervisor.</span></li></ol><p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong>Requirements:</strong></span></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">High School Diploma</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Certified Ophthalmic Technician is preferred.</span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p>",
