Description The Automation Technician is responsible for designing and programming new Automation systems as well as supporting existing systems utilizing the latest technologies and trends in Oil & Gas market. Candidate must have a sound working relationship with all management, supervisory positions, foremen, and electricians in their designated area. Job Brief We are looking for a self-starter Field service technician to deliver the desired customer service experience. The goal is to drive service success that improves customer satisfaction, maximizes customer retention and increases profitability. As a field service technician you will be responsible for response to customer calls for repairs on installed drives, installation and commissioning of new drives, and troubleshooting of the pumping application as a whole to resolve operational disruptions. This means being on call to include nights, holidays and weekends. The job requires you to work with several departments within the company to gather all details and materials needed to get the job done (Engineering for software and drawings, Aftermarket for parts, Tech Support for case details and logistics for tracking information) so communication is important. As a field service tech driving is part of the job. You will need to work in adverse climates such as summer heat, winter cold and H2S environments. Proper Personal Protective Equipment will be required at all times. This is a general overview of the job, there is no set limit on what you may be requested to do to get the job done so staying flexible is important. Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches Manage all on site installation, repair, maintenance and test tasks Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control instrumentation systems Upgrade, install and repair PLCs and HMI systems Implement and diagnose communication systems including Modbus (RTU and TCP/IP), Ethernet Configure and troubleshoot variable frequency drive systems Install and troubleshoot radio and cellular telemetry Install and troubleshoot pressure, temperature, flow and level sensors. Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions Produce timely and detailed service reports Document processes Operate vehicle in a safe manner and use field automation systems Follow all company’s filed procedures and protocols Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings Build positive relationships with customers Qualifications and Preferred Skills SPOC drive experience I&E experience SCADA experience Electrician work experience Pumping or operation experience Ability to read technical drawing Understanding of volt and process meters Power and hand tool operation Computer skills (MS word, excel, power point, etc.) Safety-minded and follow safety regulations Ambition to use the latest trends in Automation designs and equipment for the Oil & Gas Industry Experience in PLC and HMI programming, testing and field start up experience. Able to effectively communicate with customer operations personnel Experience with Ethernet networking Able to troubleshooting control loops, 4-20ma signals, motor controllers, relays and electrical systems Ability to read electrical diagrams, schematics and blueprints. Able to read and understand Cause and Effect Diagrams Able to read and understand P&ID’s Oil and gas computers and common RTU platform knowledge is beneficial Should be able to diagnose general electronic control problems Must be able to operate all types of diagnostic tools Must be willing to travel and willing to relocate, if necessary Must be willing to work unusual hours Must be able to pass all DOT drug-related testing Valid Driver’s License General Competencies Demonstrates quality work through accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
