This role ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations—including DOT, OSHA, and EPA—and drives a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence. The EHSS Manager partners with operations, terminal, and distribution center leadership to proactively identify risks, improve driver and employee performance, and reduce at-risk behaviors.</p><p>This role partners closely with corporate, divisional, and site leadership to embed a culture of accountability, proactive risk management, and continuous improvement across all business lines — including terminals, warehouses, maintenance facilities, and transportation operations.</p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</strong></p><p><strong>Regulatory Compliance &amp; Documentation</strong></p><p>· Ensure full compliance with DOT (FMCSA), OSHA, and EPA regulations, including driver qualification, hours of service, vehicle maintenance, hazardous materials handling, and environmental reporting.</p><p>· Maintain and audit all required documentation (driver logs, DQ files, medical certifications, incident records, environmental permits, etc.).</p><p>· Monitor regulatory changes and update policies, procedures, and training as needed.</p><p>· Prepare and submit required environmental reports and permits.</p><p><strong>Safety Culture &amp; Operational Excellence</strong></p><p>· Champion a Safety Culture of Excellence by visibly demonstrating commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.</p><p>· Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHSS policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.</p><p>· Conduct regular compliance audits and inspections at terminals and distribution centers.</p><p>· Conduct site visits and employee observations providing constructive coaching to improve performance and reduce risk.</p><p>· Lead safety meetings, training sessions, and safety events for employees and contractors.</p><p>· Promote employee engagement in safety committees and continuous improvement initiatives.</p><p><strong>Incident Investigation &amp; Risk Management</strong></p><p>· Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.</p><p>· Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate workplace and environmental risks.</p><p>· Track and report EHSS performance metrics; analyze trends and recommend improvements.</p><p><strong>Environmental Stewardship</strong></p><p>· Oversee environmental compliance, including air and water quality, hazardous waste management, and pollution prevention.</p><p>· Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with EPA and DOT regulations.</p><p><strong>Communication &amp; Reporting</strong></p><p>· Serve as the EHSS liaison for assigned locations, providing timely communication to management regarding compliance, incidents, and corrective actions.</p><p>· Supply management with regular safety, compliance, and environmental reports.</p><p>· Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all documentation and communications.</p><p><strong>Support Functions</strong></p><p>· Support claims and training departments as required.</p>",
