    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Blackhawk Technical College is seeking a qualified candidate to provide part-time Basic Skills Instruction in  Reading, Language, Math and/or Employability Skills within our Learning Support Division.  <strong><em>Instruction will be held within the Rock County Jail.</em></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<li>Provide instruction for assigned classes.</li>\n<li>Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.</li>\n<li>Create a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.</li>\n<li>Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.</li>\n<li>Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Learning Resources staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment.</li>\n<li>Remain current on developments in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology and utilizes alternative delivery methods.</li>\n<li>Remain current on Best Practices on GED curriculum content in the discipline and use of continuous quality improvement techniques to update content and foster current evidence-based program assessment and improvement.</li>\n<li>Develop and update or revise course curriculum as needed to maintain program relevance.</li>\n<li>Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught, and work cooperatively with members of other departments and programs in coordinating courses.</li>\n<li>Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.</li>\n<li>Meet weekly office hours and other duties required to meet student, employer, and college needs.</li>\n<li>Learning Support Manager & Department Chair in other duties as assigned.</li>\n<li>Meet Wisconsin Technical College System professional development requirements through the Faculty Quality Assurance System.</li>\n<li>Create individualized GED educational plans based on each student’s needs.</li>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<li>Bachelor Degree in Education with emphasis in reading, language, or communication.</li>\n<li>Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds.</li>\n<li>Proficiency in computer use and applications which support teaching and learning.</li>\n<li>An educational philosophy which places the primary emphasis on student learning in the design, delivery, and evaluation of courses.</li>",
