Description Coordinates administrative and/or operational functions of an organizational unit under the supervision of a manager or director. May supervise and/or provide guidance to employees or be responsible for the management of programs, initiatives or events. Responsibilities Advises students on academic, career and personal issues; identifies the educational and career options appropriate for each student and assists with the analysis of each option. Launches advising campaigns and monitors/tracks appointment data. Clears advising pins, issues permits, uses Slate, Navigate, Banner, ePrint, SoftDocs, Canvas, and Power Bi. Creates a graduation plan for all advisees within UMdegree and verify using UMDegree Audit Tool to ensure students meet graduation requirements. Monitors and submits Course Program of Study (CPOS) reports daily. If needed, refers students to counseling services, more senior staff, or faculty. Serves as liaison with the Academic Advising Center (AAC) and Admissions during New Student Orientation (NSO) to run pre-advising campaigns for incoming freshman declaring a major in Health Studies with a concentration in Exercise, Sport & Movement Sciences (ESMS). Attends all meetings to be informed and prepared. Attends all NSO events covering the information booth for the college. Attends Discover Your Major Day. Aids new students with admission and registration procedures; assists in making decisions regarding late registration, late drops/adds, overloads, credit by exam approvals, academic fresh start and other matters. Complete Change of major/minor requests using academic curriculum change tool in Citrix Workspace. Update advisor assignments in SGAADVR. Collaborate with the advising team for prerequisite checks. Collaborate with the advising team to monitor the college Waitlist/closed course list—work with faculty and staff to enroll students, as needed. Certifies that athletes, veterans, and foreign students have met the requirements for eligibility and/or aid. Prepares NCAA student athlete certifications for assigned advisees as required for athletics. Assists the Internship Coordinator by actively monitoring enrollment in the internship academic courses versus student profiles in Gradleaders to ensure all students are in both for fall, spring, and summer semesters. Will become well versed in using Gradleaders to field student questions about internship to monitor the help desk form. Assist with planning and implementing the CHS internship meeting for 100+ students, sites, faculty, and campus services twice a year along with two global meetings. Provides information and statistical data, such as detailed enrollment statistics in the special program; analyzes data and writes reports as requested; manages academic files and college databases. Serves on various committees to give input in the development, refinement and updating of university/college academic procedures. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of University rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to advising. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of appropriate experience. Relevant experience may substitute for required education.
