Description
The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that the production schedule is met through the effective direction and management of labour, materials, as well as safety, production and scheduling of subcontractors and other service providers.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 825 Admirals Road, Victoria.
What you'll do
Provides direction to a diverse, complex, and technical workforce in a union environment Effectively and efficiently executes the production schedule on ship repair, maintenance and upgrade work Ensures that the required safety and environmental policies and procedures are followed Monitors the specified staffing levels during the project and recommend adjustments as necessary Reviews project data and takes necessary actions to ensure adherence to schedule Identifies and resolves production issues throughout the life of the project Ensures that customer specifications, drawings, diagrams and other technical information are communicated to and understood by the workforce Manages and directs subcontracted work Maintains control over production costs Ensures completion of additional work Follows shipyard policies, procedures, and systems Ensures initiatives for continuous improvements per assigned lessons learned actions are followed Assists the Project Manager in the control and update of production schedules May be required to work on Second (Night) Shift on a temporary basis for a short-term project. A degree or trade certificate in a technical skill associated with ship repair A minimum of 5 years of progressively more complex work experience in large ship repair or shipbuilding projects A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a senior charge hand, supervisor, or department manager in a union environment, preferably ship related Experience with large government contracts preferred Good verbal and written communication skills Good understanding of production costs Familiarity with standard computer applications Excellent problem solving and issue management abilities Strong technical knowledge and ability to understand and interpret complex specifications, drawings, and data Strong structural background Good planning and scheduling abilities Ability to think and act clearly under pressure Good time management Why you'll love working here

The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
