We are an equal opportunity employer including veterans and people with disabilities.<br><br><strong>A Brief Overview</strong><br>\n Facilitates quality patient care performing ultrasound exams and related functions as requested. Renders appropriate care specific to age of the patient, to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment, as outlined in the \"Age of Specific Criteria\".<br><br><strong>Essential Functions</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Performs routine ultrasound examinations as requested by physician to facilitate diagnosis in accordance with department procedure manual and initial patient assessment to include the following:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Room preparation to include supplies, equipment set-up, immobilization devices; isolation procedure requirements; and sterile technique if warranted.&nbsp;</li>\n   <li>Patient/Parent education to allay apprehension and elicit cooperation during the exam. Obtains clinical history of patient's condition.&nbsp;</li>\n   <li>Calculates and selects proper technical factors and probes based on patient’s age, physical condition and suspected pathology.&nbsp;</li>\n   <li>Processing sonographic images and evaluating them for technical quality.&nbsp;</li>\n   <li>Preparing films for interpretation by the Radiologist, recording pertinent patient data and pulling previous exams. Maintaining department log of exams performed for teaching file purposes.&nbsp;</li>\n   <li>Educates the patient and family regarding the examination process.&nbsp;</li>\n   <li>Provides caring responses to family questions.&nbsp;</li>\n   <li>Excels in service excellence from the patient and family’s perspective.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Performs a variety of functions in support of the department to enhance the overall experience for patients and families&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Performs professional, clinical instruction of students by performing and monitoring \"on-the-job training\" as outlined by JRCERT.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Keeps current regarding developments, trends, and techniques in ultrasound procedures and equipment, as necessary to maintain expertise, through appropriate journals, conferences and seminars. Attends department meetings.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Maintains proper functioning of equipment by scanning the acoustic test phantom monthly, scheduling PM's quarterly, and requesting service as needed to keep downtime to a minimum&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Transports patients to and from the department to facilitate timely completion of patient exams as needed, in accordance with established department procedure.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion in order to comply with infection control regulations and to present a professional look to patients and families by disinfecting room and probes after each patient use; restocking supplies if necessary, and good hand washing.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Performs clerical tasks maintaining continuity of patient exams by retrieving and filing films and reports, answering phones and relaying messages, etc.</li>\n <li>Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.</li>\n <li>Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><strong>Education Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Associate's Degree from an accredited AMA approved school of Sonography required, candidates may be considered if within 6 months of graduating. Required</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Skills and Abilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrates the analytical abilities necessary to resolve technical problems to produce optimal scans</li>\n <li>Exhibits Interpersonal skills necessary to counsel and comfort patients and families regarding procedures.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Licenses and Certifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be A.R.D.M.S. or board eligible, and pass the registry within 1 year &nbsp;Required and</li>\n <li>Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association Required</li>\n <li>Additional certification in Abdomen Preferred and</li>\n <li>Additional certification in Vascular Preferred and</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br>\n Children’s is the very best for kids and the very best for your career!
