We are looking for professional Class 1 Truck drivers to join us and become part of our Arrow family in beautiful Fort St. James, BC. As an Arrow driver, you will travel to our bush grinder locations in and around Fort St. James. You will be hauling wood fibre locally in B train and walking floor trailers. Wood fibre is mainly comprised of grindings, but we also haul sawdust and hogfuel. Responsibilities Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations Perform pre and post and en route trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, roadworthiness and regulatory compliance Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics Efficiently maneuver truck and trailer(s) into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned Check mobile equipment (i.e. frontend loaders) to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor Report all safety hazards or conditions encountered at load, unload, yard and shop sites Record, Maintain and Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading,) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers Complete electronic and/or manual logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations Communicate effectively and courteously with the public, customers, and co-workers Assist in loading and unloading of trucks Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements. Tarping loads may be a requirement Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up Provide feedback to supervisor/dispatch regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems Ensure that all customers, co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect Train others when required Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors Shift work Weekend work may be required You Possess Valid Class 1 driver’s license with air brake endorsement Super B driving experience Clean driver’s abstract Proven ability to operate safely in snow and adverse weather, including chaining tires High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent Strong English communication skills (verbal and written) for safety documentation, reporting, and coordination with dispatch and site personnel Ability to move 100 pounds, lift 50 lbs overhead and lift to shoulder height 75lbs Ability to sit long duration Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test Basic knowledge of vehicle and trailer maintenance The embodiment of Arrow's Core Values: Safety, Quality, Integrity, Responsibility, Teamwork, and Fun!
