Description

JOB SUMMARY This position is for a Staff Design Engineer. The main responsibility of the Staff Design Engineer is to design, simulate, test, and verify new MMIC designs with a focus on Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) switch development as well as related SOI products and technologies. This role will require access to access information controlled under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR, 15 CFR §§ 730-780),and likely the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR, 22 CFR §§ 120-130), and so applicants for this position must be one of a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other Protected Individual (as defined under 8 USC § 1324b(a)(3)). This role is 100% onsite in our Boston, MA office ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Design new state-of-the-art silicon microwave monolithic integrated circuit (MMIC) circuits Layout new MMICs, perform design rule checks, and perform layout vs. schematic checks Interact with foundries to validate PDK models and tapeout new wafers Ability and willingness to characterize products hands on in the lab when required to meet project schedule Assist with generation of preliminary datasheets Support applications engineering, technical sales, and product line management when required Support of products through the entire product development and production release cycle Definition of product specifications and development of test plans Prepare for design review meetings REQUIREMENTS Bachelors or MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, RF Engineering or related field 3-5 years of hands-on silicon development experience TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES Proven ability to design and support the production release of silicon MMIC products Experience with common high frequency packaging techniques Competency in the Cadence Virtuoso development environment Experience with 3D electromagnetics simulation tools including: Momentum, EMX, HFSS CORE COMPETENCIES Business Acumen: Awareness and knowledge of and insight into the organization’s vision, structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles, values, and code of ethics; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to diverse situations.
