Interns also attend a series of workshops that provide introductions to the intricacies of integrated practice, project management, programming, business development and marketing, all crucial to the successful operations of an A/E firm.
Interns at HED harness their critical thinking skills, enthusiasm, innovation, passion, energy, and curiosity to make a positive impact through design excellence and contributing to making the world a better place. They thrive in a collaborative and hybrid work environment that embraces authenticity, discipline, growth, change and making a mark on the world.
Position Summary:
As an Interior Design Intern at HED, you are beginning your professional experience by contributing to interior design projects through research, documentation, and creative support. Working under direct supervision, you assist project teams with day-to-day design tasks while gaining exposure to an integrated design environment. Essential Functions:
Assist with material research, product sourcing, and FF&E documentation. Support design team with drafting, redlines, and updates to presentation materials. Participate in internal team meetings and take notes for reference and coordination. Create visual assets such as diagrams, material boards, or renderings under guidance. Help maintain sample library and organize digital reference files. Observe and learn Revit workflows and coordination with architectural teams. Seek feedback and ask questions to support professional development. Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Interior Design or Interior Architecture. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with Revit or other design software. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Enthusiastic attitude, curiosity, and collaborative mindset. Portfolio or coursework samples that demonstrate creativity and foundational skills. Attaching a portfolio is required for consideration. Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in person. Must be able to assist with field verification and site visits. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities. Work Environment
We embrace a hybrid model that promotes both autonomy and collaboration, including the freedom to work from home, with regular in-office days to connect with teammates and build culture.
