At VOA we are committed to providing opportunities that help staff grow and enhance their skill sets.   As part of this commitment, we invest in on-the-job training to prepare employees for their new positions, offer professional development opportunities, coaching, and career pathways to promote our culture of helping staff advance their careers throughout the organization. ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­JOB DESCRIPTION _____________________________________________________________________________ Summary/Objective The Cultural Engagement Specialist coordinates and facilitates patient groups and services for the Native American Cultural Enhancement Program (NACEP) in Volunteers of America Northern Rockies’ residential programs. The individual is also responsible for building and maintaining positive partnerships with religious and spiritual leaders to support NACEP. Essential Functions Meet with new NACEP clients, to assist in providing information and orientation. Develop and foster meaningful relationships with patients aimed to assist them in successfully completing their program and successfully reintegrating into their community and having continued success in recovery . Provide individual client recovery support and psycho-educational recovery groups, and document in the electronic medical record. Provide regular check-ins to give encouragement, motivation, and support to help them complete their treatment program. Collaborate with the Treatment Team to address patient concerns hindering the client’s recovery process and provide NACEP support. Provide/assist with transporting clients. Understands the specifics of addiction and the 12-step model. Assist with sustaining the NACEP curriculum and ensure NACEP treatment meets White Bison certification requirements. Assist in p urchasing and maintaining an inventory of products needed for NACEP. Competencies Effective communicator Highly collaborative with parties both internally and externally Respectful and professional toward patients Calm under pressure and crisis Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and professional boundaries. Comfort facilitating groups and providing individual recovery support. Maintain strict patient confidentiality Empathetic and able to relate to patients with addiction Continuous demonstration of behaviors aligned with a posture of VOANR cultural values Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This job operates in a residential treatment facility environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones . Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to bend or stoop as necessary.  This position must be mobile throughout the facility, as well as work on a computer for periods. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary according to shift and patient needs. Travel Travel is required as needed to various locations as a part of the admission and discharge process. Required Education, Experience or Eligibility Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to build respectful, trusting relationships with individuals in recovery, including Native American clients. Cultural humility and a willingness to learn and honor Native traditions, practices, and perspectives. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Proficiency with basic computer software, including Microsoft Office or similar platforms. Valid driver’s license and ability to transport clients as required. Willingness and ability to complete required Wellbriety programming and White Bison certification within a defined timeframe following hire. The following requirements must be obtained within 6–12 months of hire , with employer support provided: Completion of at least two Wellbriety programs. White Bison certification in all three Wellbriety programs. Familiarity with the Wellbriety and 12-step recovery models as applied within a culturally responsive framework. Preferred Education and Experience Experience working with Native American communities, tribal organizations, or culturally specific programs. Experience in recovery support, peer support, community outreach, cultural education, or social services. Prior experience supporting individuals with substance use disorders or other behavioral health challenges. Associate degree or higher in mental health, social services, addiction studies, or related field. Experience working in residential treatment, community-based programs, or similar supportive service environments. The individual is also responsible for building and maintaining positive partnerships with religious and spiritual leaders to support NACEP.  \\n\\nEssential Functions\\n\\n\\n\\tMeet with new NACEP clients, to assist in providing information and orientation.\\n\\tDevelop and foster meaningful relationships with patients aimed to assist them in successfully completing their program and successfully reintegrating into their community and having continued success in recovery.  \\n\\tProvide individual client recovery support and psycho-educational recovery groups, and document in the electronic medical record.\\n\\tProvide regular check-ins to give encouragement, motivation, and support to help them complete their treatment program.\\n\\tCollaborate with the Treatment Team to address patient concerns hindering the client’s recovery process and provide NACEP support.\\n\\tProvide/assist with transporting clients. \\n\\tUnderstands the specifics of addiction and the 12-step model.\\n\\tAssist with sustaining the NACEP curriculum and ensure NACEP treatment meets White Bison certification requirements. \\n\\tAssist in purchasing and maintaining an inventory of products needed for NACEP.\\n\\n\\nCompetencies\\n\\n\\n\\tEffective communicator\\n\\tHighly collaborative with parties both internally and externally\\n\\tRespectful and professional toward patients\\n\\tCalm under pressure and crisis\\n\\tAbility to maintain strict patient confidentiality and professional boundaries.\\n\\tComfort facilitating groups and providing individual recovery support.\\n\\tMaintain strict patient confidentiality\\n\\tEmpathetic and able to relate to patients with addiction\\n\\tContinuous demonstration of behaviors aligned with a posture of VOANR cultural values \\n\\n\\nSupervisory Responsibility\\n\\nThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.\\n\\nWork Environment\\n\\nThis job operates in a residential treatment facility environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.\\n\\nPhysical Demands\\n\\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.\\n\\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to bend or stoop as necessary.  This position must be mobile throughout the facility, as well as work on a computer for periods.\\n\\nPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work\\n\\nThis is a full-time position.
