We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.</p>\n<h2>Description</h2>\n<p><strong>Program Description and Curriculum</strong></p>\n<p>The Pediatric Trauma Fellowship is based out of the Division of Pediatric Surgery. This is a non- ACGME accredited clinical and research fellowship. The program offers specialized training in the principles and practice of multidisciplinary care of traumatically injured patients. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>\n<li> Currently enrolled in or completed a general surgery postgraduate training program </li>\n<li> Eligible for medical licensing in the US and able to obtain a Georgia medical license</li>\n<li> Member of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff in good standing</li>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Educational Program:</strong></p>\n<p>Required:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Advanced Trauma Life Support, if not already done</li>\n <li>Trauma simulations</li>\n <li>System mass casualty drills</li>\n <li>Secondary and tertiary quality review meetings</li>\n <li>Trauma Morbidity and Mortality and Trauma Process Improvement Conference, held monthly</li>\n <li>Weekly Pediatric Surgery didactic conference</li>\n <li>Monthly joint Trauma and Pediatric Surgery research meeting, and participation in weekly Trauma research group meetings as able</li>\n <li>Bi-annual Trauma/Emergency Medicine/Interventional Radiology conference</li>\n <li>Annual CHOA Pediatric Trauma Symposium</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Optional:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET) course</li>\n <li>National webinars, through organizations such as Pediatric Trauma Society and Trauma Center Association of America</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Scope of Practice</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>The fellow will provide patient care under the supervision of an Active member of Children’s Professional Staff. The attending physicians maintain responsibility for all activities performed by the fellow.</li>\n <li>The fellow has the following responsibilities:Maintain responsibility, within the scope of current professionalcompetence, for the care and supervision of assigned patients.</li>\n <li> Provide the patients with care at the generally recognized professional level of quality and efficiency established for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.</li>\n <li>Write orders for treatment under the direction of or to implement the plan of treatment of the Professional Staff member responsible for the child’s care. The attending physician is not required to co-sign orders written by the fellow.</li>\n <li>Abide by the policies and procedures of Children’s and the Rules and Regulations of the Professional Staff.</li>\n <li>Abide by the ethical principles of their profession.</li>\n <li>Participate in the quality management/improvement activities of Children’s.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Additional DetailsEmployment will be in the Emory + Children's Pediatric Institute.
