Job Title: Value Stream Manager Exempt Status: Exempt Location: Cheshire, CT Company Description: Hanwha Aerospace USA has long been recognized as a leader in the development and supply of flight critical Aerospace/Defense components and assemblies. Position summary: Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Value Stream Manager (VSM) is responsible for a value stream consisting of high volume, major rotating components with strict quality requirements. This role includes P&L responsibility, customer facing relationship building with both internal and external customers, and leading a supervisor and a material planner. Additional responsibilities include leading cross functional support for cost, quality, and operational efficiency improvements in partnership with Manufacturing and Quality Engineers. The VSM manages and leads the team in achieving daily and long-term key performance indicators tied to financial and operational performance, while also driving continuous improvement throughout the value stream. Essential Functions: Provide strategic direction for value stream including long and short-range resource planning (labor, equipment) to ensure effective and profitable line function, adjusting to changing customer or business needs as required. Ensure that Safety, Health and Environmental compliance is included as part of everyday activities while working cooperatively with the EH&S Manager to improve employee engagement in safety, health and environmental initiatives. Execute the manufacturing schedules based on information and requirements to plan production on-time delivery of products while meeting quality standards, and at the lowest possible cost. Manage the external supplier network which includes machining, coating, and grinding. Ensure the suppliers meet or exceed target performance for delivery, quality and cost. Achieve and maintain a cooperative working relationship with the customer. Ensure any issues related to achieving Customer schedule are resolved in as short a time as possible to mitigate any impact to the Customer. Champions Lean Manufacturing efforts within work cell(s)/value stream(s) to improve established metrics. Lead process improvement efforts that achieve highly capable processes and world class yield rates. Communicating across the organization to gain information and receive feedback and suggestions and provide updates and information. Supervising production employees, including participation in selection, performance management (including evaluation and discipline), coaching, training and employee development, and ensuring compliance to legal and company requirements. Reporting and pro-actively escalating issues to senior management that may impact business objectives. Strategic leader who develops operational plans and has knowledge of business finance linking financial outcomes with operations actions and strategy. Perform other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required. Required Qualifications & Experience: Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work without restrictions with ITAR related data Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration 8+ years of experience in engineering or production management 5+ years of experience in a production environment with at least 5 years in Aerospace Manufacturing or program management. 3+ years of experience leading and managing a team in a production environment. Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel) Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization. Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices. Ability to read, write, and understand English at a functional level. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering work instructions Ability to initiate, record, recommend, verify, and implement corrective actions or solutions to problems relating to product, process or quality system. Knowledge of procurement procedures and authority to issue purchase orders for subcontracted services. Knowledge of ISO 9002 standards and demonstrated ability to lead or support implementation initiatives to ensure compliance and maintain certification Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement Ability to travel 5-10% when required.
