Backfilling and Compaction: Backfill trenches and compact earth to secure pipes in place, ensuring stability and preventing shifting or damage.
Quality Control: Inspect and test installed pipes for leaks, damages, or defects, and make necessary adjustments or repairs to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and team members, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Shoring up trenches to prevent collapses and ensure safety.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked for project reporting and billing purposes.
Team Collaboration: Coordinate with construction crews, supervisors, and other tradespeople to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: Proven experience in pipe laying, preferably in a construction or utility infrastructure setting.
Knowledge: Understanding of underground utilities, construction techniques, and safety regulations related to pipe installation.
Physical Ability: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, digging, and working in confined spaces.
Attention to Detail: Precision and accuracy in pipe alignment and installation to ensure functionality and longevity of infrastructure.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to follow instructions, relay information to team members, and work collaboratively on projects.
Working Conditions:
Environment: Work is primarily outdoors in various weather conditions, including exposure to dirt, dust, noise, and potentially hazardous materials.
Schedule: Full-time, with overtime and weekend work possible based on project deadlines and requirements.
