Description
Overview and Responsibilities
Saint Mary's University of Minnesota is seeking candidates who are eager to contribute to its Lasallian Catholic mission of awakening, nurturing, and empowering learners to ethical lives of service and leadership. We invite individuals to help transform lives through education, inspired by the Catholic Intellectual Tradition’s quest to understand the human experience through faith and reason and its embrace of all who are dedicated to learning from one another through authentic conversations in search of the truth. We are especially interested in and give preference to candidates who demonstrate a vision to create and nurture initiatives that will advance our mission within the scope of their duties and who will foster a culture of dialogue that, with respect for all people, supports the search for meaning and purpose in pursuit of excellence.
Saint Mary’s invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, renewable fixed-term faculty position in Elementary Education/Education Foundations beginning in Fall 2026 in the School of Education. The individual in this position will teach an average of 24 credits on the beautiful Winona, MN campus. We seek a scholar-practitioner who can collaborate at the department level and across the University and local community. Applicants with experience in teacher preparation and/or teacher professional development are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly if this experience has focused on elementary education in Catholic school settings.
Candidates must hold a Master’s in Education or a related field with a focus on Elementary Education. A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education is preferred. The candidate would ideally possess certification or demonstrable background and training in structured literacy, science of reading and evidence-based approaches to reading instruction (CORE, LETRS, 95% Group, Orton-Gillingham, IMSE, IMSLEC, or similar). They must have a strong commitment to student-centered teaching and/or research, a strong background in evidence-based teaching methods, and a demonstrated ability to teach, advise, and mentor candidates who will teach in diverse educational and cultural contexts. The candidate must be prepared to support teacher education students to make learning culturally relevant and connected to pressing issues for humanity.
