    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The Town of Granby is hiring a Water Operator to join our Public Works team.  This is a full-time, benefited position, with rich health care, dental care, retirement, and paid time off programs available.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">General Purpose</span></span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Operate, inspect, maintain and repair Town of Granby’s wells, water plants, tanks,</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">distribution systems, augmentation system, water meters systems and all other aspects of </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">operation to comply with USEPA and Colorado Department of Health standards and ensure </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">community satisfaction and safety. This also includes all aspects of the raw water and nonpotable water systems as well as any other tasks as assigned by the Chief Operator, Town Manager or Water Superintendent.</span></p>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Must have the ability to assist nights and on weekends as needed to provide water repairs, </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">water quality testing, and rotating on call status for system checks that ensure proper system </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">operation and regulatory compliance on a 24 hour basis.</span></p>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Must be willing to perform all repairs as well as maintenance and cleaning of the Town of </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Granby’s equipment, vehicles, buildings as well as other structures and devices. Will </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">perform a variety of skilled, semi-skilled and labor tasks associated with mechanics, </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">construction, maintenance, and laborer and correspondence related activities.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">Essential Duties/Responsibilities</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Operate and maintain water system to ensure safe water to consumers.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Daily system checks which will include all like water treatment plants,</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">pressure reducing vaults and valves, pump stations, water storage tanks, reservoirs, </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">water impoundments and well sites.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Weekly inspection of all vaults for issues as well as meter reads and maintenance.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Periodic cleaning of intake structures of pump stations which could include hazardous conditions with cold moving water and confined space.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Plowing and shoveling of all locations as needed.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Weekly safety meetings.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Various trainings and certifications.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Cleaning of all system infrastructure sites on a weekly basis.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Oversight of ongoing and continual construction connected to town systems.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Maintenance of all hydrants throughout system to include, flushing, painting,</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">oiling, anti-seize on ears, and exercising of both hydrant and isolation valves.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Exercising of all main line water valves throughout entire water system yearly.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Flushing of distribution system as needed to maintain required residuals thorough </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">entire potable water distribution system.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• PRV maintenance of vault hardware and valves including exercising valves and</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">cleaning of screens.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Pumping out of PRV vaults due to infiltration, leaks and condensation.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• System check of augmentation and raw water systems and associated facilitates.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Maintain and log chemical levels.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Place and take shipment of chemical orders. Transfer of hazardous chemicals from </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">shipping containers to WTF chemical storage basins. Chemical mixing where</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">applicable.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Log system readings daily.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Confined space entry.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Work in remote locations.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• On call responsibilities; rotate 24/7 coverage.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Will be required to operate near open and moving water such as rivers, streams and </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">reservoirs.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Assist with water quality testing and ensure regulatory compliance with USEPA and </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Colorado Department of Health standards.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Clean, repair and maintain distribution system including main lines, valves, curb</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">stops, fire hydrants, storage tanks and meters.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Checks on equipment for proper operation some of which includes but is not limited </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">to: chemical feeds systems, chemical pumps, raw water pumps, pH and CL17 </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">monitoring equipment, SCADA supervisory control system, daily reservoir inspections </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">and levels, pump hours, phase monitor, air compressor, and heating units.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Repair and maintain equipment as needed.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Repair and maintain intake structure, ponds and dam. Clean ponds and piping.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Repair and maintain mechanical equipment: cleaning, grease and oil, replace</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">parts, and perform preventative maintenance.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Do necessary water quality testing and submit appropriate reports to Colorado</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Department of Health to ensure compliance as directed by Chief Operator.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Clean, calibrate and maintain online and bench instruments used for compliance</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">recording and documentation.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Troubleshoot and repair system controls.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Must have good computer skills.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Must have good organizational skills</span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Knowledge, Skills and Ability</span></span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Ability to conduct all necessary water quality compliance testing or the aptitude to </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">learn chemical and microbiological analyses on drinking water, and coordinates water </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">quality sampling and analysis.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Ability to learn, if not skilled, in equipment operation and upkeep, water plant</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">operation, safety procedures, building maintenance and cleaning.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Ability to operate and maintain a variety of sophisticated analytical instruments;</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">prepare accurate and thorough water quality reports; develop validate and certify</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">new analytical methods for water analysis.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Experience as heavy equipment operator helpful, not required.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Electrical, plumbing, and welding experience helpful, not required.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Mechanical ability and c</span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">onstruction experiences a plus.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Ability to work independently, often with little or no oversight and have the a</span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">bility to work cooperatively with a team.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Knowledge of current and pending Town of Granby, State of Colorado, and Federal </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Rules and Regulations.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Knowledge of Water Quality laboratory operations.</span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Education or Formal Training and/or Experience</span></span></span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• This position requires a minimum of a Class D Colorado Water Operators license and a </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Level 1 Colorado Water Distribution license. Having these licenses in advance of </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">employment is preferred but is not required. The town will allow the employee some </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">on-the-job training and some study time to pass the necessary tests within one year </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">or a reasonable period of time as determined by the Water Superintendent with input </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">from the Chief Operator.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Some chemistry knowledge is preferred but not required.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">• Possession of valid Colorado driver’s license is required</span><br></p>",
