Together, we keep getting better - advancing our mission to transform healthcare and serve as a leader of positive change. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>A day in the life of a <strong>Mobility Technician</strong> at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Works under the supervision of the registered nurse/nursing supervisor and collaborates with the rehabilitation professionals to meet the needs of the patient within the scope of this role.</li>\n <li>Provide patient care based on physical, psychosocial, education, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service.</li>\n <li>Provide for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment, and critical actions.</li>\n <li>Develops rapport and mutual respect with patients and foster an optimal environment for goal achievement.</li>\n <li>Works to promote a culture of mobility with the care team.</li>\n <li>Independently provide direct hands-on patient care to safely mobilize patients and educate families on mobility techniques to facilitate discharge to the home setting.</li>\n <li>Responsible for assisting in ongoing patient mobility including transfers, ambulation of patients and facilitation of exercise groups.</li>\n <li>Models and maintains a safe environment in which to deliver service and employs correct body mechanics during activities.</li>\n <li>Monitor/measure vital signs (pulse, respirations, blood pressure and O2 saturation) and document findings in patient record; notify RN immediately of abnormal results.</li>\n <li>Uses CPR (basic life support) skills when required.</li>\n <li>Ongoing communication with nursing, rehabilitation and other members of the health care team regarding patient mobility status and patient outcomes; tracks clinical outcomes as directed.</li>\n <li>Completes associated documentation.</li>\n <li>Notifies the registered nurse/nursing supervisor and PM&R supervisor of unsafe conditions and handles emergency situations in an appropriate manner.</li>\n <li>Practices OSHA safety standards.</li>\n <li>Other duties and/or projects as assigned.</li>\n <li>Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:</strong></p>\n<p>1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.</p>\n<p>2. Basic math, medical terminology, and literacy skills.</p>\n<p>3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</p>\n<p>4. Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google Suite platforms and EPIC.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:</strong></p>\n<p>1. Enrolled in a Certified Nursing Assistant Program, Patient Care Technician Program or or health sciences program preferred.</p>\n<p>2. Minimum of 1 year or more of experience in health care is preferred.</p>\n<p>3. Minimum of 1 or more years of experience in customer service or patient care preferred.</p>\n<p>4. Possess knowledge of common hospital equipment used in patient care.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Licenses and Certifications Required:</strong></p>\n<p>1. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
