Description
Children’s Literacy Initiative is proactively building a network of talented literacy professionals for potential opportunities during the 2026–27 school year in Southern New Jersey area. Children’s Literacy Initiative is seeking skilled coaches with proven experience successfully supporting early education program teachers and leaders to strengthen their instructional practices, build quality curriculum and early literacy instruction, and drive sustained continuous quality improvement initiatives. This role requires the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships, coach through complexity, translate data into action, and provide job-embedded professional learning opportunities that make a meaningful impact for children, educators, and programs. Ideal candidates are grounded in the belief that all children can thrive, and that effective coaching is a critical lever for improving teaching and learning.
The CLI Manager of School Partnerships and Support is a(n):

Responsibilities
Instructional Coaching & Professional Learning
Provide direct coaching and job-embedded professional learning experiences to teachers and leaders to strengthen instructional practices, support systems, and student outcomes. Design and facilitate professional development opportunities and targeted training sessions aligned to evidence-based early learning, literacy, and instructional best practices. Support implementation of early learning and literacy frameworks, culturally responsive pedagogy, and data-driven instruction. Lead collaborative planning and reflection sessions to sustain professional growth of teaching and leadership teams across multiple sites. Identify and address barriers to instructional improvement to advance continuous quality improvement, instructional practices, and children’s learning outcomes. Strategic Planning, Partnership Management & Implementation
Cultivate strong relationships with school and district stakeholders, serving as a trusted thought partner on instructional priorities. Partner with leaders to design long-term, sustainable improvement strategies and support systems grounded in culturally sustaining practices for staff, children, and families. Develop and execute coaching plans aligned with school and district strategic goals. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure aligned, high-quality service delivery across partnerships. Monitor implementation progress and partnership effectiveness, identifying milestones, success metrics, and areas for growth. Data Analysis, Impact Measurement & Thought Partnership
Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from observations, coaching cycles, and both educator and student outcomes. Use data insights to inform coaching, professional learning design, and continuous quality improvement efforts. Provide clear progress reports and strategic recommendations to leadership, partners, and funders. Leverage data and strong partnerships to craft impact and success stories. Contribute to the refinement of CLI’s coaching models, tools, and professional development resources. Represent the organization as an expert in early learning and literacy best practices while staying current on trends, research, and policy.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate is motivated by CLI’s mission and brings a strong track record of improving early learning and literacy outcomes through instructional leadership and coaching.
5+ years of instructional leadership experience with center-based early education programs serving children from birth-PreK Demonstrated ability to coach and develop educators and leaders to improve instruction, leadership practices, systems of support, and professional learning experiences that promote learning outcomes for children Strong understanding of early education program systems, leadership responsibilities and decision-making, and change management Deep expertise in best practices for high-quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum, language and literacy development, and instructional practices for birth-PreK Proven ability to coach educators and leaders across multiple sites simultaneously Experience designing and facilitating impactful professional development sessions for teachers and leaders Prior teaching and/or leadership experience in center-based programs preferred Highly organized with strong project management and execution skills Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Master’s degree required Reliable transportation required; role includes regular travel to partner sites across MA Ability to travel out-of-state (up to 25%)

Founded in Philadelphia in 1988, Children’s Literacy Initiative (CLI) is a national 501c3 working to advance equity in public education in the U.S. by ensuring Black and Latinx children achieve reading success by the end of third grade. CLI accomplishes this through job-embedded coaching and professional development, seminars, and workshops, and providing the books and materials teachers and children need along their early literacy journeys.
