    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><p><br></p><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>POSITION SUMMARY:</strong></p><p>This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Sports Instructor at the La Porte County Family YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in classes.</p><p><strong>OUR CULTURE:</strong><strong>&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;<br>Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. We are a place where you can belong and become. <strong>We are genuine:&nbsp;</strong>we value you and embrace your individuality. <strong>We are hopeful:</strong> we believe in you and your potential to become a catalyst in the world.<strong>&nbsp;We are nurturing:&nbsp;</strong>we support you in your journey to develop your full potential. <strong>We are determined:</strong> above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.</p><p><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</strong></p><ul><li>Conduct youth classes when scheduled and be available to substitute for other instructors based on need and availability.</li><li>Instructor will be responsible for finding a replacement if they are unable to teach their scheduled class. &nbsp;Instructors may not cancel class without the permission of their supervisor and the supervisor must be contacted a minimum of 24 hours in advance.</li><li>Instructor must be fully prepared and on time for all classes</li><li>Must set up and put away all equipment related to class</li><li>Instructors will dress and act in a professional and appropriate manner.</li><li>Must be willing to stay after class to build rapport and answer any questions a participant might have</li><li>Report unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor or other person of responsibility if your immediate supervisor is not available.</li><li>Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.&nbsp;</li><li>Follow departmental dress code. &nbsp;No alterations to the dress code are allowed.</li><li>Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.</li><li>Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.</li><li>Help with other YMCA functions and duties as assigned by supervisor&nbsp;</li><li>Know appropriate emergency and safety procedures and proper exits for everyone in the facility.</li><li>Builds relationships with members and building participants.</li><li>Exemplify the YMCA core values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.</li><li>Showing up for all scheduled dates on time and in proper attire</li><li>Willingness to provide emotional, social and practical support within guidelines.</li><li>All other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:</strong></p><p><em><u>Mission Advancement:</u></em> Accepts and demonstrates the Ys values.
