Company Overview
At Kovalus Separation Solutions (KSS), we are dedicated to transforming the landscape of separation technologies by leveraging synergies across membrane filtration, ion exchange, evaporation, drying, and other advanced process technologies. Our solutions support customers in the food and beverage, dairy, life science, and industrial markets by enabling product concentration and purification, removal of contaminants, recycling of valuable process chemicals, production of high-purity water, and treatment of wastewater for safe discharge or reuse.
As Work Cell Lead you will be responsible for the following:
Responsibility 1:
Provide floor level leadership to operators in the safe and efficient manufacture of membrane products and sub-assemblies that meet quality requirements in accordance with instructions provided by department and company leaders.
Expectations
Instructions and training regarding the safe and compliant production of all products and their subassemblies will be accepted from the direct Shift Supervisor or Manager. It is understood that the tasks assigned are at the discretion of the Supervisor and will be based on the needs of the department and the demonstrated capabilities of the operator.
Membrane products and their sub-assemblies will be manufactured in accordance with instructions received.
Any identified potential causes for scrap or poor product quality will be raised with the supervisor or department manager along with observations, information, data, and suggestions for improvement where applicable.
Participation and support will be provided on request for safety, compliance, and quality improvement project work and other project work where needed.
Responsibility 2 : In absence of Supervisor or as called upon, lead, or help lead assigned production team in safe manufacture of membrane products in accordance with the production schedule and with instructions provided by department and company leaders.
Expectations
Work will be launched as needed to meet the production schedule; shop papers for any new work orders will be reviewed; supply of required materials will be confirmed. Any problems with schedule, operations narratives, BOM’s, or material supply will be communicated to Shift Leader.
Work will be assigned to team members as needed to meet requirements. Work (including various types of production work, support work, project work, and housekeeping/clean-up work) will be assigned and training provided in accordance with the needs of the department and based on the demonstrated capabilities and initiative of each team member.
Production will be monitored to ensure that operations are being performed in accordance with directions in the shop paper. If there is any evidence of a scrap, or product quality problem, the operation will be immediately stopped, and corrective measures taken prior to restart. Any required assistance will be pulled in as needed.
Product completions and material usage will be accurately tracked and either correctly entered Vis or recorded for Leadership team.
Team members shall not be assigned to work independently until they have received adequate training. Any problems with facility, equipment, or raw materials shall be immediately reported and corrective action initiated.
Material storage and housekeeping in assigned area shall be kept in excellent condition; action items from safety inspections shall be dealt with promptly.
Work as needed to backfill for an operator when necessary.
May be required to move material or load equipment, replace glue drums, perform glue ratio checks, etc.…
Responsibility 3:
Help assigned production team and company achieve compliance and safety excellence. Step into leadership role where needed.
Expectations

KSS policies and guidelines will be understood and followed.
KSS safety rules will be understood and followed.
PPE requirements will be understood and followed.
Any safety hazards observed in assigned equipment or processes will be immediately reported to supervisor; production on affected equipment or process will stop until subsequently cleared by supervisor, his/her designee, or EHS.
Practices and actions will be careful and thoughtful to avoid causing or contributing to accidents or injuries.
Any accidents or other safety or compliance incidents will be reported in accordance with KSS procedure.
Any safety or compliance related incidents will be properly handled in the absence of the lead operator. Leadership will be provided in emergency situations.
