Position Summary: A New Jersey School Psychologist is a specialized, member of the Child Study Team (CST) responsible for conducting comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, case management, and providing counseling services. They ensure compliance with NJ special education regulations (NJAC) by developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collaborating with staff/families to support students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success. Duties & Responsibilities Child Study Team Responsibilities Participate as an active member of the Child Study Team in the evaluation, identification, classification, andveducational planning process for students with disabilities. Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations in accordance with NJ special education regulations and timelines. Administer, score, analyze, and interpret cognitive, behavioral, adaptive, and social-emotional assessments. Prepare clear, comprehensive, and legally compliant psychological reports. Participate in eligibility meetings, annual review meetings, reevaluations, and manifestation determination meetings. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and outside agencies to support student programming and interventions. Case Management Responsibilities Serve as case manager for assigned students receiving special education services. Coordinate and facilitate IEP meetings and ensure compliance with NJDOE and IDEA requirements. Maintain accurate records, timelines, and documentation related to student services and evaluations. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding evaluations, programming, services, and student progress. Monitor implementation of IEP accommodations, modifications, and behavioral supports. Counseling & Intervention Services Provide individual and/or small group counseling services to students as assigned. Support students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development through evidence-based interventions. Assist with crisis intervention and behavioral support planning. Provide consultation to staff and families regarding mental health, behavior, learning needs, and evidence-based interventions. Assist staff in the development and implementation of evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices. Assist in monitoring student response to intervention and analyzing educational data to support decision making. Participate in MTSS, intervention planning, and data driven problem-solving teams. Additional Responsibilities: May provide supervision and mentorship to graduate interns or practicum students. Participate in professional development and ongoing network initiatives as assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology or a related field required. Minimum of three (3) years of experience conducting psychoeducational evaluations, case management, and counseling services in a school setting preferred Valid New Jersey School Psychologist Certification required. Experience conducting and interpreting cognitive evaluations. Knowledge of NJ special education code, evaluation procedures, and IEP development. Experience with case management responsibilities preferred. Experience working in elementary and/or secondary school settings preferred Qualifications Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral and social-emotional interventions. Familiarity with assessment platforms and report-writing systems. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Commitment to inclusive and culturally responsive practices. Bilingual Spanish/English skills and experience working with multilingual learners and families. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Experience supervising interns or practicum students. Strong counseling, consultation, and collaboration skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and timelines effectively. Other Requirements: Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the role as outlined above, and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as traveling to network campuses, monitoring and interacting with students, in-person facilitation of trainings, etc.; This role may require frequent travel between multiple locations. Reliable transportation is essential to fulfill job responsibilities Bonus and Salary Information: External candidates hired for this role are eligible for a $3,000 signing bonus as well as up to $5,000 for relocation expenses ! The New Jersey School Psychologist on the Child Study Team at Mastery can expect a starting salary between $93,500 to $112,900, based on education and experience, with opportunities for growth as your career progresses.
