Description

Company Overview Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service. Overview We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service. Join a Global Team Building the Future of Aerospace Manufacturing. We’re looking for a Python-leaning software engineer to help drive the next generation of systems that support our eVTOL production. You’ll be part of a vertically integrated, international team spread across four continents, working on complex, high-impact projects that span financial, engineering systems, and the tools that help our people build something that’s never been built before. Working with a level of ambiguity and cross-collaboration is core to everything we do. Whether you’re developing a backend service that streamlines financial transactions, or creating APIs that help engineers interact with advanced technical equipment, your work will improve efficiency and clarity across the business. Responsibilities Develop Python and applications that power our enterprise infrastructure. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones to support both internal and external users. Build scalable systems that bridge high-level business logic with time-series production data and hardware. Tackle diverse technical challenges—from optimizing engineering workflows to integrating with modern manufacturing equipment. Contribute to a modern tech stack in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of software, aviation, and global collaboration—where your code quite literally helps get things off the ground. Required A degree in (business) informatics, computer science, or a related technical field. 5+ Years of software engineering experience Advanced, hands-on experience with Python. Solid understanding and practical use of Docker—you know how to containerize like a pro. Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and how to build clean, scalable web services. Deep experience with event-driven architecture—ideally using tools like Kafka to keep systems talking smoothly Desired Working proficiency with GitHub-based CI/CD workflows Proficient in databases such as PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB Familiarity with various file systems or cloud storage platforms Comfortable working independently in globally distributed teams Experienced in agile development and fast-paced project environments Background in production or manufacturing settings is a big plus Experience with AI based development workflows Additional Information Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $ 141,000 - $217,700/yr . The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Joby also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more. Joby is an Equal Opportunity Employer
