If you have a strong desire to work for a leading, global coatings company in the development of new, innovative products, then Red Spot is where you want to be!</p><p>We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented person to join our Research &amp; Development team as a <strong>Coatings Chemist</strong> in our Evansville, IN research facility. The main purpose of this position is to develop, modify and/or improve coatings for automotive and non-automotive applications. This includes but is not limited to primers, basecoats, topcoats, and clearcoats.</p><p><strong><u>Responsibilities:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Develop and formulate coatings using knowledge of chemistry and materials science.</li><li>Utilize DOEs to build new products and improve existing coatings.&nbsp;</li><li>Conduct laboratory experiments to optimize formulations for performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.</li><li>Analyze and interpret test data and make recommendations for adjustments to formulations as needed.</li><li>Collaborate with internal teams to transfer products from laboratory scale to production.</li><li>Document and record research findings and procedures.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong><u>Qualifications</u></strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in chemistry or a related science discipline with at least two intermediates to advanced chemistry laboratory courses or laboratory research experience.</li><li>0 - 5+ years coatings experience.</li><li>Ability to problem solve on coatings projects and issues and adequately communicate with the supervisors.</li><li>Ability to pass Ishihara Test for Color Deficiency.</li><li>Strong analytical skills.</li><li>Utilization of design of experiment approach (DOE).</li><li>Ability to document, report, present, and interpret findings as well as design follow-up experiments for results.</li><li>Ability to concentrate on details and work independently.</li><li>Ability to learn and apply technical concepts quickly.</li><li>Knowledge/understanding of general chemical principles/properties.</li><li>Ability to apply basic statistical techniques.</li><li>Excellent computer skills.&nbsp;</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills.</li><li>Effective oral/written communication skills.</li><li>Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner.</li></ul><p><strong><u>Red Spot offers:</u></strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Competitive pay commensurate with experience.</li><li>Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance.</li><li>Retirement savings plan (401k) with company match</li><li>On-site &amp; near site medical clinics at no cost to employees and dependents</li><li>Paid Holidays and Vacation Time</li><li>Employee Assistance Program</li><li>Tuition Reimbursement</li><li>Long Term Disability</li><li>Voluntary Life Insurance for employees and dependents</li></ul><p>Red Spot does not sponsor applicants or new hires for immigration visas such as H-1B visas, permanent residency (green card), or other immigration sponsored visas.&nbsp;</p><p>Red Spot Paint &amp; Varnish Co., Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
