Description

Job Summary: The ESI faculty is made up of Christian teachers who believe that teaching is God’s calling and are dedicated to the task of training students to the utmost of their ability. ESI desires those who join our family feel called to teach, but also to work in ministry to expand the Kingdom of God. To fulfill this role specifically in our school ministry, a Christ-centered English teacher is needed. The ideal candidate will prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter specific to the assigned grade level that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God. This role involves teaching no more than 20 students (enrollment dependent) during school hours and following the school calendar. There will also be collaboration with the Principal, Director of Student Services and the Middle and High school staff. Curriculum and resources will be provided by the school, and greater support in these areas provided by Impact Christian Schools (ICS). All teachers are expected to complete the required training and professional development, which is also provided by ESI and ICS. We also desire that all teachers reflect the purpose of the school and participate in the culture of the school, which is to honor Christ in every class and every activity and is implemented by the following details of this job. This position may also be available as part time. Spiritual Expectations: Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior Believe that the Bible is God’s word and standard for faith and daily living Be in agreement with ESI’s Statement of Faith and ESI’s Christian Philosophy of Education* Strive to be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and action towards others; seek to continually cultivate your own spiritual growth Have established a church home in the area, which has a Statement of Faith in significant agreement with ESI’s Statement of Faith and remains faithful in service and attendance. Minimum Qualifications: Have a strong grasp of the essence of Christian education Must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Have excellent written and verbal communication Show evidence of Christian maturity and a strong grasp of the essence of Christian education Have a love of children and heart to serve others Demonstrates the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and timeliness Meet everyday stress with prayerful consideration, emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance Respectfully submit and be loyal to authority Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately; avoid gossip and practice biblical conflict resolution (Matthew 18) Core Functions Integrate a biblical worldview into daily classroom life, and lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ Teach the provided curriculum to students in an age-appropriate manner for Reading, Language/Phonics, Literature and Writing Maintain control of students in a respectful and responsible manner at all times Maintain weekly communication with parents regarding classroom news Work with parents, as needed, to ensure students academic and spiritual success Maintain student grades and gradebook in FACTS/SIS Create and submit lesson plans to the Principal Essential Functions Keep required ACSI and/or State of Wisconsin certifications current Keep all required training current Plan in class activities, or class field trips to help support and amplify student learning Work with the ESI Admin team to address additional support in learning Be aware of all school safety standards and plans Follow procedures and expectations as set in the ESI Employee Handbook Maintain confidentiality of sensitive school matters and information Develop a Professional Learning Plan (PLP) each school year, which includes measurable spiritual and teaching/professional goals English Teacher Responsibilities: Reading all prescribed novels, poetry, and additional resources to gain a thorough understanding of them before developing lesson plans and curricula. Preparing students for formal and informal assessments. Grading tests, pop quizzes, assignments, exams, and other assessments, and communicating with parents, students, teachers, and counselors regarding under-performance and other concerns. Organizing guest speakers, literary events, and field trips. Keeping abreast of current events and incorporating these events and themes into lessons to make them more relevant to students. Ensuring all curriculum, school, and state requirements are met. Assessing student needs and providing support or extra resources to struggling students as well as exceptional achievers. Using technology to improve lesson delivery and record keeping. Expanding teacher networks and participating in workshops, lectures, and other learning opportunities. Possible Classes: Literature Creative Writing English Grammar Speech Supplemental Functions Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings Perform assigned duties according to the Before and After School Schedule Utilize education opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth and development Provide input and constructive feedback for administrative and managerial functions in the school Support the broader program of the school by attending the required extracurricular activities Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal Mission and Values: The mission of Eagle School International (ESI) is to pursue Christ through academic excellence to empower a new generation.
