Description
Job Title: General Manager
Concept: Fast Casual / Quick Service Restaurant
Location: [City, State]
Position Overview The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, and financial success of a high-volume fast casual restaurant. This role oversees all aspects of restaurant operations including team leadership, guest experience, sales growth, cost controls, and brand standards. The General Manager builds a strong team culture, ensures operational excellence, and drives profitability while delivering a consistent and outstanding guest experience.
Key Responsibilities Operations & Guest Experience
Oversee daily restaurant operations to ensure efficient service, food quality, and adherence to brand standards
Deliver exceptional guest experiences by maintaining high hospitality and service standards
Monitor restaurant cleanliness, safety, and compliance with all health and food safety regulations
Ensure accurate execution of menu items, prep standards, and speed of service targets
Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing management and hourly team
Lead by example and foster a positive, accountable, and performance-driven culture
Provide coaching, feedback, and ongoing development to management and team members
Manage labor scheduling to balance service levels with labor cost targets
Drive employee engagement, retention, and internal promotions
Financial Performance
Own restaurant P&L performance including sales growth, labor management, food cost, and controllable expenses
Analyze key performance metrics such as sales, guest counts, labor %, food cost, and profitability
Implement strategies to improve margins, increase average check, and drive operational efficiencies
Manage inventory, ordering, and waste reduction initiatives
Sales & Local Marketing
Drive restaurant sales through local marketing, community engagement, and in-store promotions
Build relationships with local businesses, schools, and organizations to increase brand visibility
Execute marketing initiatives and promotional programs that support brand growth
Compliance & Brand Standards
Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety regulations, and operational procedures
Maintain accurate records related to inventory, labor, scheduling, and financial reporting
Protect company assets and ensure proper cash handling procedures
Qualifications 3–5+ years of restaurant management experience, preferably in fast casual or quick service concepts
Proven track record of managing high-volume restaurant operations
Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills
Experience managing P&L performance, labor budgets, and food costs
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
ServSafe certification or ability to obtain
Preferred Experience Experience with fast casual or QSR brands such as Chipotle Mexican Grill, Panera Bread, Five Guys, Jersey Mike's Subs, or CAVA is strongly preferred.
