As an equal opportunity employer, we strive to break down barriers and ensure every team member feels seen, heard, and supported.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">COURIER is currently seeking a Houston-based Newsletter Editor to join our <a href=\"http://www.couriertexas.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Texas newsroom</a>. </span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">Job Description</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">COURIER Texas is hiring for a Newsletter Editor who will help grow our flagship email product for the Houston region—ensuring it delivers an approachable blend of local news, political coverage, and lifestyle stories—while also developing their own branded product, all in service of driving subscriber growth and long-term engagement. The right person brings a deep understanding of the impact of local reporting and storytelling—someone who knows which issues matter most, and how to tell those stories in ways that move people to act.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">This person will be responsible for:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Writing and curating content for a regional newsletter (which will publish up to five times a week) alongside an additional product or series aimed at reaching a niche audience</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Working with COURIER’s newsletter department leaders to experiment with different ways to market and grow their subscriber lists</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Using audience feedback and engagement metrics such as click rates to refine content strategy and improve reader satisfaction. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The Newsletter Editor will also collaborate with COURIER Texas’ Senior Newsletter Editor to think about ways to expand the reach of their products, which will include producing presenter-led videos and other multimedia content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or other social platforms.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The ideal person understands that A/B testing and audience segmentation are just as important as finding the right stories to tell, and may even have a history of executing similar audience-focused products that successfully drove revenue. They also know that a successful newsletter is more than great content—it includes thinking about audience growth, developing a marketing strategy, and using audience insights to drive long-term engagement.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">In addition to managing and evolving our flagship newsletter, the Newsletter Editor will also be asked to pitch, pilot, and launch a new niche product / series; publish originally reported, wire or Creative Commons articles to the newsroom’s website; and update the homepage regularly.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">We’re a fully remote team, but applicants must live in the Houston area</span>.
