    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Escort staff will provide compassionate care and support while transporting patients in a safe, comfortable, courteous and efficient manner by wheelchair, bed or stretcher throughout the Medical Center. Under the supervision of the Escort Supervisor, Escort Transporters assist with the activities occurring in the office and the patient discharge area.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<li>Conducts transports throughout the hospital in timely, safe manner.</li>\n<li>Assists in performance improvement (PI) activities by serving on PI teams as warranted, assisting with PI measures and supporting and implementing changes necessary for improvement.</li>\n<li>Participates in economical utilization of supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean, safe manner.</li>\n<li>Assists with maintaining a clean safe environment.</li>\n<li>Assist with orientation of new staff.</li>\n<li>Attends in-service programs, required training/education and unit/department/service meeting.</li>\n<li>Provides for safety of all ages of patients during transport.</li>\n<li>Works appropriately with persons of varied ages and sociological background.</li>\n<li>Demonstrates the ability to recognize changes in the patient’s condition and reports it to the appropriate caregiver.</li>\n<li>Performs initial and annual competency per job class.</li>\n<li>Applies safety principles and body mechanics to the performance of specific techniques</li>\n<li>Performs other duties as directed.</li>\n<li>Maintains proper isolation techniques.</li>\n<li>Monitors oxygen equipment for storage and appropriate PSI for transport.</li>\n<li>Utilizes computers to accurately document transport activities<strong> </strong></li>\n<p><strong>DCH Standards:  </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.</li>\n <li>Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook</li>\n <li>Must adhere to the DCH Mission, Vision, and Values including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.</li>\n <li>Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees.</li>\n <li>Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees.</li>\n <li>Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees.</li>\n <li>Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet. </li>\n <li>Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>All other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>High school diploma or GED required. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in Patient Transport role.  Previous patient care experience preferred. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
