TITLE: Government Relations Intern
REPORTS TO: Senior Manager, Government Relations
LOCATION: Hybrid – Remote and in-person in Washington, DC
DURATION: July 15 – October 15, 2026 – Available to work 10-15 hours per week
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) is seeking a Government Relations Fall Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting research, outreach, and administrative projects that strengthen stakeholder engagement, support CHCI convenings, and advance our mission of Developing the Next Generation of Latino Leaders®. The intern will work closely with the Government Relations team and assist with preparation for CHCI Hispanic Heritage Month events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Conduct research regarding Members of Congress, Latino elected officials, Latinos on Capitol Hill, and subject matter experts across policy areas relevant to CHCI convenings
Support Government Relations outreach to congressional offices, including tracking RSVPs, collecting speaker assets, and helping maintain accurate stakeholder information
Assist with developing a CHCI lookbook for Hispanic Heritage Month events to help the CHCI team track policymaker attendance and participation
Join meetings as needed to take notes, and support follow-up items related to Government Relations priorities and CHCI convenings
Provide general administrative support for Government Relations projects, outreach, and special initiatives
Provide in-person project support during CHCI’s Hispanic Heritage Month events scheduled September 14 through September 18
QUALIFICATIONS:
Organized and detail-oriented
Interested in government, public policy, civic engagement, and Latino leadership.
Have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies
Experience with postsecondary learning/training preferred
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Canva
Commitment to CHCI’s mission and values
