Description Plant Batcher (Concrete/Ready Mix) Full-Time | Dartmouth, NS Bedford Ready Mix | OSCO Concrete Join a Team That Builds the Region About Us Since 1985, Bedford Ready Mix has been a trusted concrete supplier in the Halifax Regional Municipality and part of the larger OSCO Concrete & Aggregates group. With a four‑bay repair facility, shared resources across OSCO, and the largest concrete boom pump east of Montreal, we’re committed to quality, safety, and innovation. Job Summary The Batcher supports the daily operations of the concrete plant by helping coordinate production activities and keeping workflows organized and efficient. This role works closely with on‑site teams to assist with scheduling, batching, and general plant operations to ensure safe, accurate, and reliable production. It’s a hands‑on position in a fast‑paced construction environment where strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail contribute directly to smooth plant performance and consistent delivery for customers. Responsibilities Operate a computerized batching system to accurately produce concrete mixes in accordance with specifications and quality standards Manage all aspects of batching operations, including: Product quality: Monitor mix specifications and address issues to maintain consistency Inventory control: Track raw material levels and coordinate replenishment as needed Support production scheduling, planning, and reporting to ensure efficient daily operations Support plant maintenance activities, including routine upkeep, assisting with/scheduling basic repairs, and contributing to the safe and reliable operation of equipment Assist with staff supervision, including coordinating driver schedules and providing operational support as needed Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and well‑organized work environment, prioritizing safety, quality, and production efficiency Other duties as assigned Requirements Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service Strong attention to detail Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to assist with general plant maintenance (including bending, lifting, working outdoors) Ability to stay focused and perform well under pressure in a fast‑paced and continuously changing environment Proficient with computers and comfortable learning new software for batching and dispatching purposes Willing and able to work with changing schedules, including occasional irregular hours based on production demands Knowledge of concrete or the construction industry is an asset but not required – training will be provided Comfortable working as part of a team to support coworkers, including drivers and plant staff Successful completion of a relevant post-secondary program would be an asset As part of the OSCO Construction Group, you’ll enjoy a stable and supportive work environment with a competitive compensation package, including: Comprehensive health & dental benefits Life insurance & RRSP options Health & wellness programs Years-of-service recognition Opportunities for training, skill development, and career growth About OSCO Construction Group Founded in 1955, the OSCO Construction Group has grown to include operations in Steel, Concrete, Construction, and Corporate sectors.
