    "description": "<h2>Department Overview</h2>\n<p><em>This position reports to (supervisor): Chair, Dept of Neurology and Head, Section of Headache</em></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>The Headache Center is a recent addition to The Department of Neurology in 2016. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Center provides care for patients with headache and facial pain. Patients can be seen in our multidisciplinary clinic staffed by a neurologist and an orofacial pain specialist.  The Center has a robust procedure clinic where occipital nerve block, trigger point injection and Botulinum toxin injection are provided. Additionally, for patients with documented intracranial hypertension, ocular ultrasounds are offered to monitor optic nerve sheath diameter (an indirect marker for intracranial pressure).  </p>\n<h2>Function/Duties of Position</h2>\n<p>The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the University's   missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.  Appointee shall have a demonstrated competence in patient care and teaching/mentorship.  The most desired candidate will also have interest/experience in research/scholarship/discovery and/or administrative leadership.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Teaches trainees and support staff in their area of professional expertise.  Teaching is done through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year and through teaching in the course of performing their own job by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, guiding learning through delegating graduated and focused levels of responsibility.  Assistant Professors have a demonstrated competence in teaching and are knowledgeable about relevant guidelines from all applicable regulating bodies. (E.g. ACGME competencies for clinical faculty).</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Provides an outstanding level of professional performance (e.g. quality of clinical care for clinical faculty).  Professional performance is to be delivered in a manner that is compliant with the regulations and guidelines of all relevant regulating bodies.  Treats all patients, research subjects, trainees and co-workers with dignity and respect.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>May maintain a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases.  May develop and direct scholarly research activities focused toward improving the educational foundation within Neurology.  May engage in public service through consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the Chair.  May also participate in additional departmental or hospital administration as approved by the Chair.</p>\n<h2>Required Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Position Conditions/Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Doctorate in medicine & residency training in Neurology.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated competence in patient care & teaching.</li>\n <li>Current unlimited Oregon MD/DO (or equivalent) license prior to start.</li>\n <li>Registered with Federal Drug Administration and be authorized to prescribe medications.</li>\n <li>Board certification or eligibility for board certification in Neurology is required.</li>\n <li>UCNS certified Headache Fellowship completion</li>\n <li>Ideal candidates will have interest and expertise in research/scholarship/discovery.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Compliance: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Code of conduct</li>\n <li>Respect in the workplace</li>\n <li>Applicable law, policies, procedures, positions certifying agencies and agreements related to position, department, or OHSU as a whole</li>\n <li>All duties and responsibilities of the Neurology provider conform to the credentialing process, OHSU Hospital Medical Staff and University Medical Group (UMG) guidelines.</li>\n <li>This position requires undivided effort at the specified FTE level.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Why apply to OHSU?</h2>\n<b>We are Oregon's only public academic health center.</b> In addition to caring for patients, we lead groundbreaking research.
