Camp Greenville is an overnight camp established in 1912 that hosts boys and girls from throughout the region and the world for summer camps, retreats and specialty camps. You will get to experience what the great outdoors of Western North Carolina and South Carolina have to offer. The Maintenance Technician supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direct supervision of the Property Director, the Maintenance Technician performs general facility maintenance, repair, custodial, and groundskeeping duties to ensure YMCA properties are safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for members, staff, volunteers, and guests. This role provides hands-on operational support for building systems, equipment, and property upkeep . Responsibilities Facility Maintenance & Repairs Perform general building maintenance, minor repairs, and facility improvements (mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, etc.). Assist with implementation of preventive maintenance tasks as directed. Complete assigned work orders using the organization’s maintenance management system. Monitor facility conditions and report unusual or unsafe conditions to the Property Director. Operate tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively. Assist with basic vehicle and equipment maintenance as needed. Grounds & Housekeeping Perform landscaping and facility maintenance to ensure a safe and attractive property year-round. Perform custodial duties as assigned to maintain cleanliness and member satisfaction. Safety & Risk Management Respond appropriately to emergencies and facility-related safety issues. Collaboration & Service Provide excellent service and maintain positive relationships with members, guests, staff, and volunteers. Work cooperatively with staff and contracted service providers on facility projects. Support overall operations of YMCA facilities and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Other Expectations Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers Attend/complete required abuse risk management training Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers Follow mandated reporting requirements Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities Maintenance Employees-ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc. Required to live on-site from May 1, 2026 - August 31, 2026 Shared housing is provided during seasonal employment. LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES: Functional Expertise Program/Project Management Critical Thinking & Decision Making Qualifications High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience. Minimum 1 year of experience in facility care or closely related field Must be able to live on-site from May 1, 2026 - August 31, 2026 Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must meet YMCA of Greenville driver eligibility requirements, including maintaining an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), in accordance with YMCA policies. If driving YMCA vehicles or personal vehicles for YMCA business, the employee must successfully complete YMCA driver authorization requirements and maintain eligibility throughout employment. Ability to communicate well with others Demonstrated ability to respond to safety and emergency situations Willingness to be trained and learn new skills and operations Strong communications, teamwork, and interpersonal skills Excellent time management skills Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community Preferred: Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
