PRN ROTATE
The Ultrasound Technologist performs basic diagnostic ultrasound procedures, as requested by a licensed physician. Exercises professional judgment in providing health care services, to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly. May be multi-credentialed in sonography.
Responsibilities
General Functions:
Produces high quality diagnostic sonographs, by selecting and operating appropriate sonographic equipment Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and procedure is recorded, assists practitioner with sonography, and uses high frequency sound waves for the purpose of diagnostic images Practices aseptic techniques as necessary, understands methods of venipuncture and other sterile techniques in agreement with state statues and/or where institutional policy permits, Prepares, identifies and/or administers contrast media as prescribed by a license’s practitioner. Assists with amnio procedure biopsies if required. Department/Business Unit Functions:
Provides communications to patients for instructions and history in order to obtain desired results, by gaining cooperation and minimizing anxiety Assumes responsibility for provision of physical safety and psychological needs of the patient during procedures Positions patients to best demonstrate anatomical areas of interest as requested, by respecting patient’s ability, comfort and safety Participates in the acquisition and dissemination of the patient’s history in order to evaluate and facilitate diagnostic results. Implements protective measures to prevent patient injury due to thermal, electrical, mechanical, laser, chemical and radiation sources Provides interpreting physician oral or written summary of technical findings. Provides practical instruction, evaluation and precepting for students and/or other healthcare professionals Assumes responsibility for assigned areas, quality control of equipment and reports equipment malfunction Initiates anecdotal, incident, contrast agent variance and accident reports in a timely manner Demonstrates knowledge in hazards involved in the use of soundwaves and if precautionary measures Processes and files films as needed using RIS and PAC’s Schedules and transports patients as needed Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively Maintains safe environment Addresses patient population-specific needs Participates in Performance Improvement activities
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of a school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Associate degree
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2-5 years in Diagnostic Sonography
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Must be registered with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiology Technologist in Sonography (ARRT).
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.

"InternalResponsibilitiesStr": "<p><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>General Functions:</strong></span></p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Produces high quality diagnostic sonographs, by selecting and operating appropriate sonographic equipment</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and procedure is recorded, assists practitioner with sonography, and uses high frequency sound waves for the purpose of diagnostic images</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Practices aseptic techniques as necessary, understands methods of venipuncture and other sterile techniques in agreement with state statues and/or where institutional policy permits, </strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Prepares, identifies and/or administers contrast media as prescribed by a license’s practitioner. </strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Assists with amnio procedure biopsies if required.</strong></span></li></ul><p><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Department/Business Unit Functions:</strong></span></p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Provides communications to patients for instructions and history in order to obtain desired results, by gaining cooperation and minimizing anxiety</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Assumes responsibility for provision of physical safety and psychological needs of the patient during procedures</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Positions patients to best demonstrate anatomical areas of interest as requested, by respecting patient’s ability, comfort and safety</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Participates in the acquisition and dissemination of the patient’s history in order to evaluate and facilitate diagnostic results.</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Implements protective measures to prevent patient injury due to thermal, electrical, mechanical, laser, chemical and radiation sources</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Provides interpreting physician oral or written summary of technical findings.</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Provides practical instruction, evaluation and precepting for students and/or other healthcare professionals</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Assumes responsibility for assigned areas, quality control of equipment and reports equipment malfunction</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Initiates anecdotal, incident, contrast agent variance and accident reports in a timely manner</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Demonstrates knowledge in hazards involved in the use of soundwaves and if precautionary measures</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Processes and files films as needed using RIS and PAC’s</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Schedules and transports patients as needed</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Maintains safe environment</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Addresses patient population-specific needs</strong></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>Participates in Performance Improvement activities</strong></span></li></ul>",
